They might be or might not, I lean towards it, but am not stuck on it, and don't actually give much of a shit. If my words implied I was entrenched in an opinion and ready to do battle, then I misspoke. If they don't change at all I'm quire sure I'll continue to think they don't match each other well.

And, I have a question. Let's call it unrelated. Take the VO 1M - the roll offs front & rear look pretty similar to me, like they belong to the same car. Now look at the camo car. They don't look very similar to me in any way. Would you share or not share the same opinion? If I understand it, you think the camo car has a nice match here front and rear, nothing seems off at all, and there's something to see in the VO 1M pictures to back that up? I'll attach a pic showing what I've been talking about here the whole time. Just genuinely curious if it doesn't catch your eye and make you wonder.
Just wanna say I completely agree with you

Fake in shape, or fake in size? The size looks absolutely perfect in my opinion, however I agree with a bit more refinement it could be absolutely bang on.

Again it is not going to have a DCT transmission. People need to accept this.

Shape. Using this first G80 spy shot as an example, you can see what's underneath.

Thanks, makes a lot more sense now.

From the spy shot thread, this looks a lot more like what I expected, the front fenders look like they belong on the car now. Can see the kink in the back window too.

And the shot in the post directly above this one, with the car in purple. Seems to be the real deal.

As far as I'm concerned, it's 6MT or nothing.

I agree. The percentage of people buying the G87 with the 6MT will probably be much higher than the F87.

I like the DCT in my F87, but if I have to chose between a 6MT or ZF8, it's 6MT no doubt, and I have no problem with that.

The purple vehicle has some fairly pronounced fenders and the typical M "hood power bump" to be considered a G42...

Not considered a G42; it is a G42. G87 goes full Hulk on top of that.

Camo drop, or updated camo to hide production body components?

On the G87 M2 it's still tucked away under camo.

Interesting that the C-pillar is camouflaged: is BMW M toying with the Hofmeister kink or considering the idea to affix a BMW logo (as on the BMW 3.0 CSL and 3.0 CS and CSL Hommage) ?

Recently the X2 also got this feature as a change for the sake of change ("For true distinction, the BMW emblem has been repositioned next to the Hofmeister kink on the C pillar. Just another case of breaking the rules.").

Just remember that it is scheduled to go into production in December 2022. Still a long road ahead to a final version.

The cookie butter contemporary window line on the 4/8er coupe is just beyond comprehension.

Wow ok, those are some impressive fender lines for a standard G42! Sounds like both vehicles will be very impressive in their own right!

Now if they can just keep the weight down, i dont care about power - i just dont want it to be fat!

My shortlist for a "Drivers Car" once this is released:
- G87 M2
- Lotus Emira (If I can option it at a decent price point)
- Nissan Z (if they also can keep the weight down and driving dynamics on point, could be a nice budget buy)
- Supra, if a manual is ever released - theres still hope with this fabled High performance GR edition to come
