Curious, but, are any of the 2-3 car garages insulated and air conditioned? My garage has a 2 and 1 config. I’m not often in the garage, because it’s so hot in there during the Summer. But, if I could cool it, I can detail my car after a wash cycle.

Watched a few videos, and seems like a garage without windows would need a hole cut through sheetrock, and the barriers between that and the stucco. I also don’t know if the HOA bylaws allow such a thing. DOH!

I’ve also watched some videos about Swisstrax, and a fellow enthusiast had posted up a really good review, for those considering this type of flooring material.

In any case, nice garages showcased throughout the thread. Hopefully I can spruce mine up a bit, soon enough.

Our garage is insulated and has a mini-split for heating and cooling. Yes there needs to be access from inside to outside for the unit. Mini-splits are super efficient.

Thanks for the info. I’ll have to figure out a way to insulate the walls that already exist in the garage. Then, check with the HOA if I’m allowed to add a split system, (silly rules, in my opinion). If so, seems like the best option, versus one of the portable ones. I don’t think that’s going to cut it.

Cheers!

I've had pretty much everyone who provides any sort of service to me make a comment about my cars, from lawncare folks, pest control tech, etc. Hell just last week I had to get my torsion spring above my garage door replaced and the installer made a comment about my M3... .right before providing me an absurdly high quote for the work.
Put an old blanket over the M3 and park the suv on the road when workers come to quote or you may have a car cover, works for me.

Yes- this is the way to go and you shouldn't have any HOA issues. You might need to landscape/shield your outdoor unit a wee bit. But otherwise all good.

We had 57 cars there, not counting his that were inside. He's a great guy, the kind of guy that will be there in a minute if you need a hand with anything. He likes to throw a big hotrod party every year or two. This is a video of his race car at a party he held at his house a couple of years ago before the new shop was built.

Neighbor had one back in '05 and shipped it off to Hennessey for a twin turbo kit. Bragged how he was gonna destroy anything on the road when he got it back. Mysteriously(not so much if you know how Hennessey operates lol),it never made it back to him lol. Were definitely cool trucks!!

3rd wall done! I can finally focus on hanging stuff where I actually want it and not just where it's out of the way.

Still touching up the front little sections to either side of the garage door and still have to do the ceiling, but...it's pretty much 90% done at this point.

Planning on adding an air duct + temp sensor controlled in-line fan to the ceiling.

Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-R.../dp/B0792QR5YT

Only problem is I'm not sure that will be sufficient airflow so I may need something more powerful or add an exhaust fan as well. I'm trying to avoid anything where I'd have to cut through the drywall and such for future maintenance.

Garage is now 95% done. Only things remaining are putting up the slatwall so I can start hanging up the bikes and tools, and installing a pressure washer station. Oh and painting the entryway door and stairway black.

I'm eyeballing one of these to upgrade my car washing / pressure washing station....just found out about them from another BP member:

https://giraffetools.com/products/gr...41355708006459

Pretty slick setup and not really that much more than the pressure washer I already have. Hell of a lot more convenient too.

Does everyone with race deck, swiss trax, etc ... pretty much go entirely with free flow (or brand equivalent) tiles rather than just under car(s) or car tires? I'm somewhat on the fence about doing that and am wondering what tipped folks one way vs the other.

Anyone run any underlayment like some of the folks on garage forums seem to do?

I'm not sure I understand the first part of your question either...

From the condition of my concrete, it was clear that epoxy or some painted setup wasn't going to look good. You can also see my underlayment before the swisstrax was put down. Hope this answers some of your questions...

i have a portable AC unit that keeps my temps usable.

I have some swisstrax similar product, but just at my bench to help with fatigue when standing.
