Congrats! This is the first time I felt like I chose the wrong color for my car. The Toronto Red looks so sharp! I love the combination with blue calipers. Very nice touch.

Hi- I have a question about the info from BMW Genius. I ordered my car on 9/20 and was told that it was scheduled for production that same day. My Garage a few days ago said "Production begins." Last Monday BMW Genius said my car was scheduled for production the week of October 9th. When I called today, a different person said my car started production on 9/25 and is scheduled to be completed on October 9th. My Garage today still says "production begins."

So they first said my car was scheduled for production the week of Oct 9th and now they are saying it will be completed on October 9th.

Does this make any sense? Has anyone had a similar experience with BMW Genius?

Would be great if the car is completed on 10/9!

Thanks,
Paul

The Genius doesn't have much more information than what you can find in My Garage. If you're using Chrome, you can inspect the Garage Page and it will show you your actual Production Date and from my experience that day was pretty accurate. For example, I went into production on 9/4 with a production date of 9/15 and by 9/15 production was complete.

I apparently can't link the URL to this site. But just go in google and search for "How to find bmw production date in my garage using google chrome" and you'll find some instructions.

I also just called Genius because I am still at Status 165. Ready for Transport. The person I spoke with said it could take up to 8 weeks to get to port.

Based on the Order Spreadsheet that sounds like an exaggeration.

I was told that today as well. I am in 160 still "Final Assembly". How long were you in it? I have been in since Friday.

Yeah, I’d agree. I did an average of the times we had available from the spreadsheet and overall the time from ready to transport to departed from port is 20 days or 22 days for east coast buyers. From there it’s 15 days in transit to destination port and 12 days on average to be delivered to dealer. Keep in mind, this only base on examples in the spreadsheet. It could conceivably take longer or shorter.

Based on these averages I expect my car to be here on 11/7 having been ready for transport on 9/19.

The “Production Started” 150 status is simply the date where your VIN is assigned, and your car is actually sequenced into the production scheduled.

From that point on, your production date (can be seen using the Chrome trick) is unlikely to change, as all parts are allocated. (It would only change due to unforeseen circumstances).

However, the actual production just starts a day or so before the “production date”. Until then nothing happens. Then, all of sudden your car proceeds across a punch of steps over a period of hours (paint, assembly, QA, etc).

Mine is supposed to start tomorrow. Yours should start to move in 5 days or so.

Here is my projection for my car at least:
Depart Port of Exit (we are now thinking Veracruz): 10/29
Ship: Toronto
Arrive at Destination Port (Brunswick): 11/8
Arrive at Dealer (Atlanta): 11/14

This gives 27 days from my 165 status to get to the port at Veracruz and get loaded on the ship. "Toronto" is scheduled to leave Veracruz on 10/29 and arrive 10 days later in Brunswick. Seems reasonable to me. Of course if it happens sooner I won't complain. I figure a 27 day buffer is more than enough to get to port and loaded up based on what I've seen happen in the last 2 months on the spreadsheet.

Wow. You think it will take a month to get on a boat? Bummer if it takes that long.

I was hoping to get mine before the winter temps and snow arrive in New England.

Well there were a few 23s, a couple 26s, and a 30 day gap between status updates on the spreadsheet. Since I know when a ship is leaving then that's how I based my guessimate. Of course its just a wild guess. Also, I looked at autotrader for listings in a 50 mile radius and ran the vins through mdecoder to see when their production date was. Although listings might not have arrived yet some I knew had arrived based on posts from forum members so I was seeing roughly 43 days from production date to arrived or almost arrived. So I factored that into my dates as well.

Makes sense, even though I don't like the data

Some stellar detective work there. I’m going on about 2 weeks from production date, so hopefully end of month seems realistic!

Looks like Morning Chorus is in Port Veracruz right now and due in Brunswick on the 10th. Hopefully some of us waiting on a boat will get on that one.

Yes it is set to leave on 10/5.

I don't see why you, Workodactyl, M.Falcon, apez, and m3ct should not be able able to get on this ship. Check with your CA if possible to see if they have any updates. They should be more in the know than the Genius line.

The statuses may go from Ready to Transport to In Transit all at once and that would be when the ship already has left with your car on it.

Worse case scenario, you all get on the 10/29 ship.

Let’s hope so! When I called genius they offered no info and said it wasn’t scheduled yet. I reached out to my CA, so I’ll let you know if they have any insights.

Ok this Ready for Transport 2024 is starting to annoy me and I’m tired of checking multiple times a day to see the same thing!

I’m about to go to Mexico and bring my car to the damn port myself.
