Did you not watch the video?
That was true, but his statement was prior to driving the G87....there was something mentioned about keyboard warriors protecting prior generation cars residuals....as long as it floats your boat that is all that matters...love the car you are with.

I paid $85K MSRP for my CS. I don’t understand all of this forum hate, not you specifically, just responding to your quote about price.

I really like the G87, but I haven’t driven one yet. I’m sure it’s fantastic, but I already have 4 cars at the house. Maybe in 2-3 years I’ll look into getting one.

I’m biased, but I still think the F87 looks better. However, my blue/gold car hardly gets a second look except from real car “guys”, and the G87 is much more aggressive, so I get why many of you prefer the looks of the new M2.

The G87 seems to be the best manual car under $100K on sale today. Enjoy your purchase!

Hi all,

Whatever your thoughts, can you please discuss in a respectful manner.

May I remind all of the forum rules here, especially points 1 and 3.

Quote:
1) Respect. By far the most important rule here. Through the generations of BMW, enthusiasts have come together for the love of the car and the community. So the basic rules of real life apply here, show each other respect and you will get respect as well. Don't bash someone else here because you feel like it. Derogatory or insulting remarks will not be tolerated. This applies to all corners of the site - including posts, profile visitor messages, and thread tags.
Quote:
3) Disagree, don't attack. Disagree on topics, but try to leave it at that. Just because you don't like someones opinion on the car's engine, doesn't mean you should call him and his mother all sorts of names Disagreements are awesome, and you should call someone on something you don't agree with, but don't go out of your way to insult and flame someone. Please consider if you would say to someone's face the same thing you are posting.
Thanks, Mani

And then I saw this thread and the bullshit from Harris and it was cringeworthy. How can this guy speak out of both sides of his mouth and yet claim that it’s the “community” that “started” it?

No, Mr. Harris… You did.

All of us here are simply reacting to it and wasting 15 minutes of our time watching him shit on all of us.

Sorry… I can’t accept that - and neither should you. The rich man should know better and he should be making amends for that divisive position which, clearly, I am also opinionated on.
Harris is just trying so desperately to remain relevant by provoking social media intrigue. Don’t fall into the trap.

The guy has zero value to add. What can he possibly add being 7 months late to review the car.

Honestly he came across as a baphoon. Really cringe to watch an overweight short guy making non-funny jokes about his testicles, to get clicks.

He added nothing to the understanding of tge G87. “It drives well” - duh, everyone other reviewer already said that.

He is over the hill and irrelevant.

Thanks 😀. I am a lover of all M cars. They’re all special in their own way. Whether you own an E28 M5, E30 M3, any F87, any iteration of the G8X , or anything else with an M badge, you’re part of the M Brotherhood. I wish we could all live in harmony.

He got the car months ago. I think its his long termer. His opinion is not based on a couple hours with the car. I don't mind he waited.

The answer is somewhere in between.

I think he's just a dude with a production team saying what he thinks of a car to a camera and a microphone... Take it for what it is.

I like all reviewers... They're just people speaking to who is willing to listen to them. When they talk about our cars, we usually tune in to see what they have to say.

Agree he's 8-10 months too late to the party, and I think he knew that, as he already had material none of the original reviewers did (the "hate" from the bros). But he didn't call my mother any names, so I don't hate him. It was fun to watch... Don't regret watching it. I actually watched it twice. (I think I watched the Throttle House one more times though)

Yes, he had the car in June and it was his daily for several months. Anyone following him on IG could have seen that. The video took forever to be edited and posted. He mentioned it was in post two months ago.

Could care less that he's late coming out with a review, what matters to me is he had the car and used it for several months. Not like other reviewers that drove it for a couple of hours.

We've had our cars for 6-7 months now and then the review comes, it's a bit late. I already know that and more. We've been "long terming" for longer than he has. What's the point of a car review of a car that's been out for a while.
I mean, would you watch a review of the G80 M3 at this point? It's a bit more irrelevant, do you know what I mean? If I'm watching a G80 review today, I'm looking forward to seeing something no one has shown before.
My understanding is he has had this car in his possession since the launch

I believe Chris probably has more seat time than just about anybody

seeing ""grown"" folks freak out over a car or a certain reviewer is surreal

anyway i will also direct you this little tidbit to written by Chris. https://www.topgear.com/car-news/opi...iticising-cars

TLDR is he just can't bring himself to criticize good ICE sports cars anymore and laments having been so critical to (in hindsight) some pretty good cars when they were new. and he has a great point there. if you have the means, and are a manual transmission sports car enthusiast, you *should* be voting with your wallet and buying one new. this played no small factor in my decision to order one. CTR, ITS, GRC, etc will all sell every single example made to ravenous crowds OVER msrp. but not the M2. without special ordering, manual M2s would be almost non existent on the ground.

this is my first BMW and i think they nailed it. it was more than enough to win over my dollars vs a used F87 which to me, when driven, was a more compromised car. maybe a better performance machine, but a more compromised car overall. and on a 10 scale of fun, it was like haggling over 0.5 points. not worth it to me, but both were a blast to drive! just my $0.02

Same, I’ve spent plenty of time wrenching and wanted to take a break and I bought the G87 so I could put the wrenches away for a few years.

Really cringe to watch an overweight short guy making non-funny jokes about his testicles

When I read these fat sentences (jay emm talk also comes to mind) I wonder what the writer thinks of gays, jews, blacks etc
