What if I want to lease it cheaply for a couple of years for $500 a month (...the same I'd pay for a well equipped Honda Accord)? See it's the perception thing here. A person making $75k a year leases a $52k 3-Series and pays $500 a month, people scream and criticize about allocation of funds. If that same person decides to 'buy' a Honda Accord for $500 a month, nobody says a thing. It's the self-righteousness that's irritating. It's the same damn thing! Of course some people will argue, "...but if you were buying the BMW outright" or "....you don't own it, it's like renting [or some other absurd justification]", despite the fact that statistically most people in the U.S. don't keep cars until loan maturation regardless of what route they went.

Home, yes, esp. with a 30 yr. mortgage, but car? I doubt it's true, but if it is, PATHETIC. Then again, didn't people in LA and Phoenix walk away from their underwater homes, only to get new ones (the trick was spouse was not on the deed or mortgage)? So I suppose as long as that's ok, anything goes.

Somehow, I really doubt that people who walked away from homes in LA and Phoenix "knew" they were going to get away with it. In reality, it was probably pretty scary. Given the fact that they borrowed half a million of dollars at a time and didn't have to pay it back, they probably snicker at people who are concerned if something costs $300/mo. or $500/mo. or $700/mo., it's all the same. I actually know someone who bought at the peak, walked away in Phoenix, and now owns 3 McMansions. WHen you see it with your own eyes, you know it can be done. She doesn't even work (got laid off) and drives a leased A8L. This country is full of systems that I suppose can be worked like a model's chest. Oh when I say pathetic, what I mean is say you borrowed money on a car for 36 mos., and 18 into it, you decide to get a new car. I do find that to be pathetic, like no discipline or self-control. I would venture to guess that most people who have 36 mo. loans on their cars keep them 8-10 yrs. or longer. |

Ahhhh, got it. I suppose that I would fall into your "pathetic" example though. LOL! I've owned 10 new BMW's in 13 years (..5 of them being M3's....yep, I'm fickle sometimes!). To my defense, I don't have kids and I make good money. What else am I going to spend it on (..besides trips to Brazil)? I don't slave 10-12 hour shifts for nothing. hmmm..but if you've had 5 M3's, I don't see how #5 can be that much better than #4, etc. I seriously love my E92 335i and sometimes imagine how much better a E92 M3 would be. It held its value way better and some say it's actually reliable to boot. You're a cop? If nobody's said it for a while, thanks for what you do (but give me a pass if you get me).... |

Much appreciated. I generally don't bother BMW drivers. Audi drivers? Now that's another story. |

This past Sunday, i was driving to Church peacefully minding my business, from my rear view mirror i see an SUV speeding up to me, swerving lane to lane. I was on the left lane, so the SUV pulls right behind me, it was a man and his wife, looks like they were late to some kind of event. He was tailgating me like crazy, this guy was literately inches from my rear bumper. He starts flashing his headlights, giving me signals to move out of his lane. I was like hell no, i'm not moving. If he's such in a hurry just go around me. He continued tailgating me, we were both doing about 70mph, The posted speed limit was 65mph. So after about 15 seconds, his police light comes on. I was like huh? WTF... this has got to be some fake cop. There's been plenty of those around my area. If you go on youtube, you'll also see videos of people using fake police lights to pull people over as a prank. After about 20 more seconds of driving, it dawned on me, holy shit, this guy is a real cop. So now he's pissed and wants to pull me over. I gently, got off the next exit and there were other cops siting at the exit waiting for me. Apparently he called for back up. So i get of the ramp, there are cops everywhere. The guy jumps out his SUV, pulls out his gun at me.. starts screaming "PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE 'EM!!!!". I co-operated nice and gently, he comes up to my car, his face was boiling red hot anger. He starts yelling at me, and spit was just flying out of his mouth. "KID WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU..." "YOU"RE GONNA FUCKING GET IT ASSHOLE... YOU HAD ME CHASING YOU FOR MILES"..."DUDE YOU"RE FUCKING GETTING ARRESTED YOU PIECE OF SHIT"... "I GOT THE ENTIRE STATE POLICE ON THEIR WAY HERE NOW"... He asks for my lic and reg, i gently hand it over to him. I started explaining to him calmly, that he was tailgating me, i told him "i didnt know you were a cop"... " you were tailgating me and flashing your high beams, which is against the law"... " you have your wife in the car, and your license plates are regular civilian plates"..."so i just thought you were just an asshole jerk trying to bully me out of my lane" He faced changed a little bit, he takes my info and goes to his car. He starts talking to the other cops. After about 5mins, the other cops all drive off. 5mins later, he walks back to my car, hands me a ticket for $360 (Speeding violation + failure to pull over). He tells me i'm not getting arrested. I can just see a little bit of guilt in his face. He knew i was right. He calms down, i explained to him a bit more why i did what i did... he says "oh well just check off not guilty, and we'll see you in court" Just like that the whole thing ended, i put my sunshades back on and went to church like nothing happened. I called one of my friends who is a cop too, he told me more than likely that they'll toss out the case. I didn't do anything wrong.

Stay right, pass left. You deserved it. CT drivers are pretty bad about it.

However, this is a never ending debate topic. Stay in my lane because I'm doing well above the speed limit or move over because the fast lane is the passing lane. |

Not to jump on the cop train... There are good cops that stop crime and should be fully respected.
Then there are the traffic pen pushers that have discretion on their side and rarely do their job correctly. I could go ahead and list the 1 million+ reasons why and what I see daily in DC but that's a discussion for a different day. The latter infuriates me and for that reason, cops have a bad name from me. Also, if you are ABOVE the speed limit, you are not legally blocking traffic...
