When you say pre-LCI shifter, you have the little paddle switch thing and you're installing the shifter that's in the 2022? Is the reverse possible, meaning if I have a 2022 with the older shifter, can I retrofit the paddle switch shifter from the 2023+ to mine?

This?
https://alpincars.com/en/gear-knobs-...9-9462643.html Tbh I like this mod. Coming from a 6MT my left foot has already adapted to no third pedal, but my right hand still looks for a landing spot when relaxed driving with one hand. |

ive actually been wanting to do this with my '24 since i purchased it but when i ordered on ebay, the seller (from poland) is saying it isnt the right part and wont fit, according the info he has and my VIN and is wanting to cancel the order to prevent me returning internationally unless i waive the refund.
attaching images to the item, hoping the community can help out. ive asked the seller to hold it for a day or two before he cancels so i can confirm fitment with this community. any help would be greatly appreciated. |

It's only for the TRE carbon fiber stuff, which is a shame if you're more of a gloss black kinda guy like me. They sent a link in an email with their US inventory.

I really want to retrofit the pre-LCI shifter into my '23, but having reviewed other boards, it sounds like if you need electronic related diagnosis and repair, BMW demands you put the LCI shifter back in, apparently. Now I have to weigh out my laziness versus wanting this part. Also, more than laziness, I'm afraid of taking off plastic trim multiple times for fear of rattles or breakage.
As to the topic of what I did with my G42 today, I buckled both rear seat belts since I've had some plastic sounding tapping from the rear. After two drives (yesterday and today), I think that noise is gone...it's been the passenger rear seatbelt probably this whole time. FML, I don't know why I didn't try that sooner, I know better. At least one less thing for the dealer to look at next week (hopefully). They'll be looking at the steering wheel creak if nothing else. Last edited by Littlecoupe; 05-09-2024 at 10:51 AM.. |
