I'm hoping that the rumors about no Carbon Packages being produced in August is not true.
I am wondering this exact thing, which was my previous question. Unsure where the other guy is getting his info about it staying a 2023.

If you have a production number as a MY23, you are already in queue (you are not getting "kicked out" and lose your allocation). If you have a VIN as a MY23, nothing more to say...

So say my build week gets pushed to 34, which is after the start of MY 24. Are you saying they’re going to still build mine as a 23 whilst the others are also being built as a 24 in the same manufacturing location?

The VIN identifies the year. The parts/options are the same, its just the VIN and registration that will identify the MY difference (and once November comes, the availability of the frozen colors).

Do you have a VIN yet?

Read a number of pages, did a few searches, and asked some of my local dealers...I'm finding no one actually knows what the current lead-times are for these cars. Dealers chuckle and say it's over 2 years. That's within the realm of possibility given production issues of the past few years, but over 2 years is not worth the wait for me.

So I'm not exactly clear what I should be asking, but from this thread, it appears a more reasonable expectation is closer to 1 year. Appreciate what everyone's been sharing on here...it's been very insightful.

Mid-to-large size dealerships are receiving 1-2 allocations per month. Very few are receiving maybe 3. If you’re say, 10th, on an allocation list - expect to wait 5-8 months to get a production number, plus three to four months for production and delivery. Unless you’re getting the carbon package, in which case, nobody knows.

I see you are in Cali. Make sure you call around and ask detailed questions (of course you have to hope you speak with someone telling the truth). I have heard of a number of Cali dealerships charging a series ADM. Just keep in mind that a dealership with a list of five or less that have only received 1 or 2 allocations the entire time could give you a longer wait then a dealership with 10 on the list that receives 2 allocations per month, every month, since the first drop at the end of February.

You may also want to call dealerships that are out of State. Just be sure to ask if they will sell to out of Stste resident.

I see. It's never just straight forward when there's a dealer involved...
I've struggled to get a hold of a few nearby dealers - my only guess is they have enough M2 orders they're not entertaining inquiries. I managed to put a deposit down and sales reps seemed upset when I asked a question.

It's never been this way for me at any other brand (from Ford > Hyundai > Lexus > Porsche and everything in-between); even years ago, I had a less than positive interaction with BMW sales.

I think the car sales landscape is a little different these days.

Got on waiting list on 4/8/23 and received my allocation on 7/1/23 and my dealer charges MSRP. So it really wasn't all that bad.... A lot quicker than I expected based on what other people are experiencing on these forums.

That’s a awesome! Do you know how many people were in front of you? And where do you live (if you don’t mind me asking).

Next on the list at my dealer. Now I have to make the decision on whether to get one in August (most likely) and get November delivery or drop to the bottom of the list. Living in Western New York, the car would not get much love from December-March. Can't decide if I want to order in August, delay to like January, or just wait for MY 25 and the potential HP bump that is rumored and maybe the non-frozen medium/dark blue which would be my preference. I like TR a lot, but I'm not sure I love, love it or if I want the extra attention it brings.

I have the same issue. Am the next on the list, but want the frozen blue color, which starts production in November. I also want to skip the winter here is west PA.

G87 allocations for the most part tend to be sporadic so there is no guarantee that your center will get one come January 2024. Furthermore, a lot in life can happened between now and August 2024 while waiting for MY25 production to begin. If we spent most of our lives waiting on the “next best thing” we will most certainly miss out on a lot in the present.

My CA just told me that carbon seats are not available and I’m trying to get him to switch me with the person behind me on the list. However, he’s saying that I can’t do that and the best he can do is put me at the back of the line. Considering the list is over 50 people long at this point I don’t know what to do.

He can but he doesn’t want to do it. My CA has done it twice for me. Talk to somebody higher up in the food chain there.

He definitely can and is what my CA did for me without even having to ask. I was given the option of speccing the car without the buckets or swapping for the next allocation in line. As others have said speak to a higher-up.
