OMG - now if only Apple had a few bucks to do some product testing, they might have been able to figure that out, and perhaps find some genius high tech solution. Or they could just engineer in a fault they could blame on users, and then soak them for 'using it inappropriately'. OOOPS - (late)trigger warning for those of you starting to get flashbacks of being in the service advisor's office discussing those bad rod bearings....

That may be so, but I've never had the same issue with the USB cables. I've had Apple and Anroid phones, both at the same time due to work, and only the Apple chargers did this. Same with laptop chargers. My wife is constantly having to replace her MacBook chargers.

I know this from having to do failure analysis on similar products in my pass career. I would beat Apple knows this, but materials which can withstand the oil acid generally are not too flexible materials. But you can tell people how to probably take care of things and use them, but do people actually listen.

Case and point, my kids do not listen to me and usually end up stealing my cables when theirs fall apart.

You can always buy one of those braided sheath cables, then tend to hold up since they are made of harder material and are flexible because they are braided.
