I ordered the kit through getbmwparts.com

51-95-5-A58-544 INTERIOR TRIM KIT

Please note that the kit includes the alacantra knee rests. I installed those on my M4 and moved the SensaTec M4 pieces to my G42.

Put in Dinan monoballs today. Maybe I'm too tired and my senses are dull, but I don't notice much of a difference. Will have to test them further tomorrow to get a better sense of any changes.

Don’t all regions have the under hood insulation installed from the factory? I’m pretty sure mine has it but will have to doublecheck now.

Did you notice a reduction in engine / intake noise with it installed?

On my GTI, with the insulation removed, the intake was noticeably louder.

Installed carbon fiber steering wheel trim and paddle shifters.

Got them from AE:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005...8dacQs9EL&mp=1

Quality exceeded my expectations and it got rid of the steering wheel cracking noise i had

Haven’t had a test drive since installing the insulation, so can’t say if there is a difference.

I didn’t even know the car could’ve had under hood insulation until I saw a review video of an M440. And for no good reason I know I needed that insulation.

My car was built December 2022, so maybe one of those supply chain issues

Haha that’s awesome!

Guessing the US market 230i didn’t get it 🤷‍♂️

Picked the car up at the BMW performance center, so it seems very unlikely someone pulled it off.

Regardless, I have it now 😃

Intake sound with an aftermarket intake is louder without the hood insulation.

A squirrel decided to snack on mine last year so I just removed it. Intake sound was noticeably louder.

Is the insulation for sound / heat / both?

On my GTI I had the insulation on, but the intake lid off. Was the right balance of sound for me.

I’ve only ever seen it on the US M240i.

In the parts list it’s called, “sound insulation hood”.

It’s just for sound reduction. It’s even called sound insulation in the bmw parts catalog.

Also if you look at any M car none of them have it.

Well now I'm wondering if I want to get rid of the damn insulation. I imagine it would help airflow / heat as well?

It’s just held in with 12 plastic clips. Should be easy to pull out. And if you break any of the clips, they’re only $0.50/each.

So if you change your mind about removing it, reinstall is cheap. Shipping will probably cost more then the clips

I installed a corgi butt tissue holder. My better half said the car won’t start anymore if this mod was not installed.

Clips didn’t break when removing them. Will go for a drive later on to see if I notice any audible difference (stock intake with drop in filter).

Any difference? Been thinking about removing the rodent nesting material.
