Mildly surprised at all the > $1000 watches worn here. Contrary to popular belief the typical BMW owner is squarely (upper) middle class, although there are some notable exceptions. For example, the second most commonly driven car by pentamillionaires (not including primary residence) is actually the 328i - purchased outright (not leased). The most commonly driven car overall is the Mercedes E class, and the top 10 list of cars driven by pentamillionaires includes the likes of the humble Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, but that's for another discussion.

The only BMWs on the top 10 list of cars driven by pentaillionaires are the 328i at #2 and the BMW X5 at #9 or #10. Audi isn't represented at all. The Mercedes E class holds the #1 spot, although the Mercedes S class isn't among the top 10.

That's not to say that multi-millionaires don't like fancy watches. Some of them do, and the most common $1000+ watch among pentamillionaires is the Rolex. But something like 94% of pentamillionaires wear a watch that costs < $500.

Personally I wear a humble $200 Seiko. It looks something like this -

Neither are the exact model (I just searched seiko chronograph 100) but it looks very similar. All of these watches are around $200.

Edit: Well, I took a quick snapshot of my particular model with my iphone. As you can see it's pretty similar. The background of my watch is dark blue as opposed to black -

Double edit: If anyone wants to know more about those fascinating pentamillionaire facts, I got them from the latest book by Thomas Stanley called "The Millionaire Mind" Great source for statistics on the spending habits of the wealthy.

Hey, it would'nt surprise me if you got there some day! Of everyone in this thread, you have the characteristics most becoming of a pentamillionaire. Humble, practical ~$25 watch, and you drive the 2nd most commonly driven vehicle by this prestigious class of individuals

A majority (>50%) of multi-millionaires have a net worth between $2M and $10M USD, and most of these are high (but not obscenely high) income white collar types who lived frugal lives and saved (and invested) dutifully for most of their careers.

Edit: Hopefully my post doesn't come off as offensive to anyone with a $1000 or $2000 or $10000+ watch in this thread! I'm sure there are some here who are wearing watches that are not commensurate to their actual net worth, while others are multi-millionaires or come from multi-millionaire households who are simply reaping the rewards of financial security. I'm sure some combination of both accounts for most if not all of the people here, although I don't care to delineate who fits into what category. Again, I hope my post doesn't offend anyone here!

We each entertain ourselves in our own way...some of us sport expensive watches, some mod cars, some buy boats, lake/vacation homes, trips to vegas, expensive liquor, a hundred different pairs of shoes...to each their own.

And I'm in the wrong career field to become a pentamillionaire anytime soon...regardless of what I spend on a watch. Grind it out and retire when I can.

Here's my Omega PO Chrono. Also have a Panerai 196, and a Seiko 5 Sports Automatic. The Seiko is indestructible and what I wear when I know I'm going to be banging it up against stuff.

Look at it this way, if pentamillionaires lived like most Americans, they would spend more money on cars then they actually have and then they wouldnt be pentamillionaires anymore would they?

That's a beautiful watch!

I'd have ceramic versions if I could afford them.

not in the best condition, I really should get it polished. I view it as battle scars to be proud of, similar to not owning a trailer queen M3

Baume Mercier Capeland Automatic, Baume Mercier Hamilton, or Bulgari Aluminum Sport.
Mostly you see a Omega Seamaster with a diamond bezel behind the wheel because the wife drives the 3er.

JLC Extreme World Chrono on my way home from work.

Switched watches to my LV Sub for my trip to the gym.
