True. But looks like a good option for people who don’t want to get their ECU unlocked

Guy, I highly recommend getting the XHP trans tune if you’re running a Racechip GTS black with the 8 speed auto. I found the extra torque added made the stock trans not shift fast. Once i installed the stage 3 trans tune my 1/4 mile time went down .5 second. I feel it will drop even more once I play with my setting. I’m very impressed with XHP.

Half a second is huge just from a trans tune. Or was that half a second from stock before the Racechip?

1/2 second was from the trans tune on stage 3. It is paired with my race chip.

[QUOTE="mike@x-ph.com;31039315"]Still an excellent improvement

Im very impressed, I think there is still more time to shave off, I haven’t even played with the customization setting that it has to offer. Once it warms up I’ll get some better draggy numbers. Still a bit chilly up in Canada.

I have the race chip installed on my g87. Can confirm it was worth every penny. Power difference is very noticeable. Originally I felt that the car was very fast stock but this for me made it just right. More power but not an unusable amount. Install took me and my bro over 2 hours cause we struggled with the boost sensor down low but the rest of the install was a breeze. Took my car in for oil change with the blank plate installed and the cable tucked away and they didn’t say a thing. I never get check engine lights or any hiccups from it. It just drives the same with more power and just as smooth to redline. I drive on map 6 with 93 octane and it’s my daily driver.

How is the torque curve? Does it help give it more usable power down low on daily commutes etc? Not just when your foot’s buried in the higher rpm’s?

Changing torque curve would require a trans tune.

Adding different PSI on different RPM will change the torque curve.
You can do that with a Jb4 or a flash tune like bootmod3 unless we are talking about two different things.

If your itching I would just get it…Dollar for dollar you get a fairly big increase in hp and torque. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

I posted a dyno on my G82 with the same engine a few years back. not exactly the same but gets you a good idea.

If you look at the dyno it only adds power after 3k RPMs

no tune adds power before 3K RPM, that's when your turbos are spooling at 100% whether you are on stock or tuned.

The XHP trans tune on my F series m240i was my absolute favorite tuning mod and extracted so much power out of the car. If the programming is the same/similar for the G87 as it was for the F22 I agree it's a no brainer. I won't be getting it for my M2 since I am the TCU being it's a 6mt.

It is safe.
I have used it on my X3MC for a couple HPDE and on my 991.2 Carrera T on a few HPDE. No issues. And always on map 7.

Not sure what kind of data you are asking for, but Racechip has hundreds of thousands of users worldwide, i don't think I have ever heard of any failures.
