Also in the rare case it is Totaled out. When they give you the payout offer it is negotiable. It is based on what it would cost to buy your car currently with similar mileage. You then send them examples of cars for sale with similar options/mileage and you almost can always get more than what you originally received.....it is SF so who knows at the end of the day but thought I would mention it in the rare chance it comes up.

Thanks for the tips and info. Yes it is comprehensive.

The other option I'm working on is potentially taking payout for the damages and selling the car as is to someone that may want a restoration project.

This is true. They'll make you sweat for 30 days after the initial payout quote before they come back with a better offer. Wait it out.

This is shaping up to be a long recovery. Shop is also waiting on a database update just to see all the parts. Then there's the availability question.

I guess that's what I get for wrecking a new model.

When I wrecked my E46 M3 in 2004, it took 3 months. Major contributing factor was new part availability. And the car had been out for over 1 year then w/o supply chain issues of today.

It had over 50% value in damage. I crashed it 1 day before my first payment. Not my proudest moment.

Be patient. Godspeed.

My 330ic was totaled in 2004 and bought an E46 with the huge payout (from SF!).

DaaanG!

It's 8-10 weeks alone for the wheels assuming they'll replace my Richland Forged.

Unless you insured your mods/aftermarket parts, you will have to fight to get them to cover.

I was told wheels are covered, besides, the RF are likely less expensive than the OEM haha.

Nice. Play all the angles. Too bad you can’t sue the deer for personal injury due to negligence and failure to yield. We were almost in our ‘23 M3 for our accident, decided to take the tesla at the last second, and thankful we did. Can’t imagine the residual loss the M3 would have taken plus longer repair time. Took three weeks to get the car into the shop, then 7 weeks for repair. $15k collision repair. $30k in personal injury. Only $3k loss value.

Yeah they can't start work for 6 weeks even if they had all the parts.

Don't know about you, but ANYTHING in "the trades" has huge backlogs. Plumbers, electricians, ASE techs, freaking landscapers even. It's a HUGE pain in the ass. Please, find me people who will take my money.

To be fair, if they’re immediately available Id beware. If they’re good they should be booked. Solid rep comes with long client list, and Id rather wait although it sucks.

Of course there’s always exceptions, this is just my experience but far from a “hard” rule.

As frustrating as a long wait can be, this is the way I look at it. I'm glad they're busy.

Unless you have the right contacts at the good shops to get you in and started (of course, starting is one thing, waiting on parts is another).

I agree, but I swear the wait for reputable craftspeople was shorter about 10 years ago, and much shorter 20 years ago. Maybe I'm wearing rose colored glasses. But I've heard that trade unions have trouble getting apprentices because everyone wants to go to college. Same for the military.

Sorry to hear about this Justin! I live in the lehigh valley area and deer are truly suicidal out here.

If it is any consolation/comfort, I did the same thing at an Autocross and almost flipped my car. 4 wheels, 4 tires, every underbody panel, and one rocker panel all needed replacement. In the end, it was actually an easy fix and for around $12K I was back on the road. The car needed no repaint, and never showed any sign of the incident!

Don’t overthink it

That’s why they’re called “accidents”
