I think this is it in a Harman/SAMSUNG collaboration. This was a x3.

It’s a SmartThings integration.

Go play nanny somewhere else. This is an enthusiast forum and BMW is an enthusiast brand.

I bet your wife drives you around.

Dude—you ratted on yourself. Get over it. Even better, improve as a driver and a person.

Someone I know died at the hands of someone like you. For shame.

Truthfully i understand why they're doing it. For cars to look expensive they have to have all these fancy screens & lighting. You see on IG how benz always gets those interior reels but i never see Bimmers.

When you open the air-rec menu, there are 3 presets. You can perform long press on the "Air-Recirculation" item to add it to shortcuts, and long press on the Auto-recirculation item. Place the first item in the first shortcut slot (top-left position in the swipe-down drawer) to be able to quickly close the air intake via idrive controller action sequence: NUDGE FORWARD (opens drop.down drawer) and PRESS(presses on first shortcut).
And second shortcut is automatic recirculation for when you want to enable automatic air-intake when you're back in the clear air environment.

As cars get more techy, the more I want analog.

When I want to go out for a drive it's usually to escape all the noise and the lights not be surrounded by it.

I guess I’m in between on this.

If it’s something where i set it once and forget it (such as a system setting), or maybe i change it once or twice a year (such as when changing tires), then I don’t mind if it’s buried several menus down in the screen.

But if it’s something that I want to change regularly, then I want ready access to it.

Yes, it’s nice that I can press a button for the rear defroster. But what about listening to the radio or changing a station? Why is it buried down several menus? That’s where I’m solidly with you.

I think Hyundai made the "Panoramic View" way better than BMW did with their Head-up Display.

I think I can accept the design of the iDrive X, but the lack of iDrive-controller is a big dealbreaker. I have no interests in leaning forward to type on the screen. I wan't to sit back in the seat and leaning my arm comfortably on the armrest and use the iDrive controller with my muscle memory. It's more comfy and way more safer than the touch things. I have iDrive 8 in my G26 i4 and i'm using the iDrive controller 99% of the time. Why can't they make both and make all customers happy..

Exactly. So easy.
I suspect they will revert back to buttons and the controller in 5 years or so. Like wind turbines for electricity, will be looked back upon as a fad.

Come on man, seriously?

Are you actually suggesting BMW have launched this new design, clearly costing 100s of millions, forgot about regulations and have failed to meet minimum safety requirements?

The lack of iDrive controller is a dealbreaker. BMW is getting rid of their competitive advantage in the iDrive controller.

There is some sort of iDrive controller. The touchpad on the steering wheel will play that role. Is it the same? No. Can you do similar tasks with those? Sure.

Will test it properly around the June timeframe.

I wouldn’t have any interest in iDrive 9 due to its lack of controller, let alone X.
When I found out there was a 9 but G9x was only getting 8.5 I was a little annoyed that we were getting an old version.
That quickly stopped when I found out about the lack of controller.
Not sure where BMW are doing their Focus Groups but it’s not using many forum members!
