I use mine a lot for early morning cold starts as closing the valves makes a massive difference, must be 50% quieter, then after that not a lot and leave it open even with the missus in it.
not sure how its going to be with the MPE.

They're obviously not on the car yet, but my winter tires/wheels were delivered today.
Got them a couple of months earlier than planned, as Tire Rack had a wheel I liked on closeout saving me almost $200!

I have the SST, it makes a difference if you have a the AA DP and the MPE exhaust. When cruising on the Highway in comfort, the rpms are low in 8 gear and a drone is very audible, putting the valve in OEM, the cars goes quiet like stock. The only time I am using cruise is when my wife is in the car anyway. So 99% of the time the valve is 100% open |

True, but remember. With stock valves even in Sport Plus driving the valves still only open a maximum of 70%, hence that is why some of buy the valve controller. There is quite a bit extra volume in that 30%.

I think it really depends on the exhaust setup one has. |

The SST controler can override any OEM function, mine stays open all the time, unless I either force it closed, which is a bad idea or put it in OEM mode. So the scenario is exactly as I described.

SST has four modes, fully open (regardless of car mode); fully closed (regardless of car mode); 50% open (regardless of car mode); and oem behaviour.

Personally I'm happy with the sound change. It's not dramatic, but then I didn't want it to be or expect it to be. I also wanted the ability to easily change the setting at any time. So it was a no-brainer for me. At the same time, I certainly wouldn't comment negatively about someone who is happy with the fuse method. To each their own

I was simply saying that even without the sst box in that situation the car would have closed the valve anyways. |

It’s not a lot of money, but $40 is $40. I already bought bimmercode, and from what I read, bimmerlink is more for diagnostics. Frustrating that you cant have all coding in a single app…I understand this may be possible in an app like Carly.

Oh yeah. That part is frustrating. Could’ve been one app, if the developer wanted it that way.

All this talk regarding exhaust valve control had me curious this morning.
I coded in engine sound menu in idrive a while back and have been very happy but reading that the valves may only be opening up to 70% had me check via BimmerLink. With BimmerLink connected I put the car into “sporty” sound mode via idrive. I heard the valve open. Then in BimmerLink I set the exhaust from auto to open. The exhaust valve made no noise. I played around and could control the valve via BimmerLink but it appeared the valve never opened further than the idrive “sporty” setting. So am I right in believing the sporty engine sound menu opens the valve to 100%?
