Heard quadrophonic the first time with Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs. A cousin of mine worked one of Emerson Lake & Palmer's concert were they played Karn Evil 9 (especially the end of it).

My wife asked me what I remember growing up that our kids and grandkids have no idea about. Some of the things I came up with:
Cars without air conditioning Hand crank windows on cars Manual transmission, especially “3 on the tree” High beam “button” on the floor Wipers on a knob instead of stalk AM radio to hear baseball games (I remember the first portable transistor radios too) and HeathKits. FM Classical and Jazz stations No talk radio Tubes in radios and TVs - going to the tube tester I think at the grocery and pharmacy to test and buy replacements Black-and-white TV (before color) Jack Paar, Milton Berle, Sid Caesar and the rest on TV Variety shows, like Sonny and Cher, Laugh-in, Donny and Marie... Warm colas/sodas from a vending machine - before they were refrigerated Same for candy bars, often very soft in summer Building of the Berlin Wall, now gone for over 20 years So many board games, seems only D&D and Risk still exist, maybe? Encyclopedias, you know, the sets of books. Gasoline for under $0.50/gallon (under $0.35/gallon actually) Gas station give-always like glasses, dishes, steak knives and toasters S&H Green Stamps and the redemption center Clipping coupons from the newspaper, then using them at the grocery store Out until the streetlights came on (or later!), no supervision Schwinn bike with a banana seat My wife says it’s all virtual now, we are becoming like the people in Wall-e |

Before junior high school, your options for organized team sports were Little League or hockey. Pop Warner football came along after I was out of high school. And soccer well after that.

One of the teachers at my high school drove an MG. Several miscreants on one of the sports teams decided to pick it up in the parking lot, carry it to a double emergency door in the gymnasium, flip it on its side, and carry it inside.....

Baseball team from what I heard, and they placed the MG in the tipoff circle of the gym's basketball court.
Remember, these were the olden days, when sawing off a shotgun and retrofitting a pistol grip was an acceptable wood/metal shop project...and not a reason to lock down the school....

Captain Kirk (William Shatner) turned 90 today. Why does that make me feel old? Spock and Scotty are gone, so I guess it shouldn't surprise me.

You know you're old when you remember watching Shatner performing "Rocket Man" live on a Canadian TV variety show in the 1970's.....

It was a few years before this, and on a CBC (?) show that was sort of like Johnny Carson IIRC. The same show also had another episode with Lee Majors on singing a duet of "I'm the Tops" when he was still shooting his six million dollar show. I've searched YouTube, and there are no shared videos of either.....

Well, the "mystery tube" was an electrolytic capacitor in an aluminum can. He literally ripped that sucker right off the chassis with a pair of pliers. Dad gave him the bad news. We chuckled about that one for months. Heh!
