P320 just had a recall to stop accidental discharges. No incidents but they anticipated a potential issue. I'd have the gun shop check it to see if it's post recall. Just happened a few weeks ago.

TTAG did a video showing drop safety failing or something like that (didn't watch the video, just noticed the post on my annoying FB feed). What's even more of a fail to me is the title picture they used...smh.

It only occurs when the gun is dropped at a very specific angle, you're perfectly fine to shoot it, just don't drop it.

Slide and frame have to hit ground at same time at the butt of the gun. Not ideal but don't drop your gun not issue

I finally sent my XDs in for a recall (1-2 years after they issued it?) and they sent me back a free extended mag for my "trouble". Thanks Springfield! The full turnaround was also only about a week, which makes me glad I waited since I heard several months was the wait time right when the recall was issued.

I'm hoping to get my first AR-pattern rifle in the coming months.

I am definitely set on getting a piston one as opposed to direct impingement and I am down to two choices: SIG516 or HK416. I'm leaning towards the HK but since both options are pricey, I need to get some trigger time on both platforms before making a choice.

Living in Canada, we're not allowed to have AK pattern rifles otherwise I would get one before the AR. Not to mention any rifles mags must be pinned to 5 rounds and pistol mags must be pinned to 10 rounds.

I think I would probably prefer an AR if the shit hits the fan then an AK.

Any particular reason you want piston instead of DI? How much are you going to be shooting it realistically?

If you do want piston don't rule out Colt.

OK, might be the wrong place to ask this but you guys have way more experience than I do. I own several shotguns but I'm thinking of picking up a hand gun to keep in the house. Mostly self defense and at this point I'm not looking for something for concealed carry. Think 9mm is the way to go and from what I can tell SIG and Glock seem to be the go to choices. Any advice/suggestions? TIA!

Standard practice is to go to a range and rent a few to try. If you can't do that, hold some at your store or shoot a friend's. Between a Glock and a sig in 9mm the biggest differences will be the grip angle and the trigger. I shoot both equally but for some people it makes all the difference.

If your only option is to hold them at the store, get a good grip on it and look how it aligns with your forearm. Ideally it will be perfectly aligned.

Of course, some guns just turn you on be it looks, manual of arms, features etc. all else being equal, pick the one that does. If it's more relatable to you you'll probably shoot it better.
