Take it up with your peers and the doctors that are/were part of the development. Keep in mind the validated studies from Florida, Colorado and California that resulted in 80-88+% effective rate of correct assessment in determining .08% BAC or more, etc.

Furthermore, I already said in an earlier post that driving behavior, other observations and chemical tests back up the SFST's. Agree, disagree.....your decision. We (...e.g. law enforcement) didn't just pull this stuff out of our collective asses. It's medically derived and supported and given the totality of any given circumstance where you are deemed DUI, you're going to most likely lose in court. The DRE program (...which includes the SFST's) and its methods are taught the same way all over the world.

Well said, but you are talking about 'some people'.
Just like on the road, some will have to "give up" rights because not everyone drives a BMW w/ performance tires & has gone to a proper driving school.
But driving too slowly has drawbacks, too. It's hard to find that 'middle' on the road, much less in a gun safety discussion.

Driving is not a RIGHT. It is merely a privilege.

Did you ever go to the range? I’m surprised hubby has a gun and you don’t know how to use it. I’m very comfortable with, and a good shot with rifles. Hand guns, not so much but I do know my way around them. I wouldn’t feel comfortable with one in the house if I didn’t know how to use it. Granted, the ex was home if his gun was out. Other handguns were in the safe but what if? Go to the range, get comfortable with it.

No, I've never been to the range. He's wanted to take me but I haven't been interested. I grew up in a home where the only thing we had was a BB gun. Now, my Mom has several guns and is an incredible shot. She takes courses constantly and wants one of the guys at her range to teach me. His are all in the safe except his daily carry. So, if he's not here it's not here. I've been saying I'm going to go but for some reason it doesn't excite me/interest is low.

You should do it. You’ll feel better. You don’t have to love it, just be comfortable with it.

I belong to a shooting club and have an AR15 s/a. With the lockdown eased here it was the first time I returned for a bit to the range and must say feel safer with the weapon in the house.

Good stuff! I always have a weapon within reach despite living in a relatively affluent/nice neighborhood.

I think you are looking at it on the medical stand point. We in law enforcement base it on observation (driving all over the roadway, failure to yield), reasonable doubt/suspicion (TS), FSTS, blood work etc. Also another example would be is when the driver is having a diabetic shock, he or she would have the same driving actions as a DUI driver. We do our investigation then once we determine he or she is under the influence then we book them in jail or it's a medical issue. Drunks are the worst people to deal with. And normally they don't have time to be nervous. Obnoxious!! Absolutely.

Sedan_Clan and Fly320s meet-up Tuesday, April 20th, if anybody else is in the SoCal area and wants to meet up for tacos & mindless banter . After party at Fly's hotel......replete with strippers covered in Nutella and PAS device testing for the impaired. I will gladly demonstrate SFST's for those who want their .BAC calculated and confirmed via the PAS.

Of course we all know that even the 1A is subject to reasonable restrictions, such as safety, insurrection, libel, treason, etc. (Captain Obvious checking in!)
To repeat, the 2a did not come to us on a stone tablet from Yahweh on a mountain top.

Also scary is that Chauvin & Potter (Brklyn Center) were teaching other cops when they had the mishaps.
Come on, teach the children well...!

Not to me it's not. I completely understand why some people don't enjoy the Shooting Sports. It's as foreign to them as hitting a little white ball hundreds of yards and then walking after it is to me.

The only difference is I don't want to stop people from walking after their little white ball.

You should be careful. Those little white balls, when they get into the wrong hands, can kill.
I didn't know we were talking about the shooting sports... or golf!

Well if you are making my firearms illegal - then you are talking about my shooting sports. Firearms are used 99% more for sport than they are against humans, so when you try and outlaw them - you are taking away our "golf clubs".

I love hitting little white balls... with my rifle.

The golfers hate it, though.
