I think I may have actually figured out what's going on. THIS is how BMW is selecting our orders for production!

They've been following this method all along and it's really only a matter of luck.

Does anybody know if the 2024s have actually started production or are they clearing up the backlog of 2023s through August?

208 2024 models have already finished production. 193 are scheduled for or in production. 798 are on order (status 111). Every 2023 has finished production.

Any idea on how many of those 208 completed M2’s have actually shipped out of Mexico or been delivered?

I just got Scheduled for Production again after removing the carbon pack a while back. I have been scheduled for production 5 times including this one so lets hope it goes into production.

Honestly I would hope none, since there are a number of 2023's still sitting at the factory / port. I would assume they would move the 23s first but im only guessing lol

This exact thought has actually crossed my mind.

2024 production began on week 31. We have a week 32 and 33 built and sitting at Port Altamira. Both have been there for approximately two weeks. Plenty of Ro-Ros have come and gone in that amount of time as well. BMW’s logistics is currently in the toilet and that is an understatement.

Another data point for you all...

I put a deposit down in May, and received an allocation on Jul 28 with a build week of 39. It's still in Order Received.

My friend put a deposit down in June at the same dealership, and he also received an allocation on Jul 28 with a build week of 39. His status went into Scheduled for Production on Aug 24.

The only difference between our configs is the paint color and automatic (them) vs manual (me). - (No carbon package)

I got allocation about the same time as yours, Jul 30th. The original build date in week of 41, then it was moved up to week of 35. Now it's back to the original week of 41. My order has carbon package option.

What colors were involved? Mine is BSM. I got Jul 29th allocation with week 40, that now moved to week 42. (Carbon roof and trim, but no seats).

Also, did yours have any M Performance parts?

I think we are all getting pushed back based on our spec. I have a Aug 1st allocation. ZB, auto, non carbon pkg. Was initially told Week 37 but recently told its now Week 42 and that Week 37 is when the parts are scheduled to be in so it seems to be a parts inventory problem. I see some cars go from allocation to Scheduled for Production the next day and shortly after to In Production which tells me in those cases the factory has all of the parts in stock for that spec at the time they receive the order.

I’m assuming if they can’t cars that have been built out onto ships then they can’t get parts into port either from overseas to continue builds…I’m curious as to how many parts as a percentage or what key components are coming from Germany to Mexico???

The parts would come in via container, which use different docks in the port to RoRo transporters. The issue seems to be RoRo ship availability and the impact of port space for them.

Week 35 built and everything as scheduled. Similar build as you ZB, auto, HAs, no carbon seats. Not sure what the delays could be for others. West coast deliver but I went into final assembly today

Another West Coast car here. Production date of 9/1/23. Check everyday to make sure that doesn’t move.

West Coast week 34 (8-21). Production queue 2 weeks before, quality check 2 days before, final assembly on 8-21, ready for transport 3 days later, then status 165 a few days later. Just waiting on it to rail to the port then ship out. No buckets but did have carbon roof and interior.

As others have said just check for updates periodically but also stay in contact with your CA.

Colors:
Mine is BSM
Theirs is ZB

No performance parts included on either.
My car is still build week 39.

Where do you guys see the build weeks change? Is there an option other than calling BMW genius?

You can only see it after it is schedule for production, using a Chrome "inspect" trick. While you are at status 111 you can't see it on the web site.

I hope the hold up is not lack of BSM paint
