They've been following this method all along and it's really only a matter of luck. |

Does anybody know if the 2024s have actually started production or are they clearing up the backlog of 2023s through August?

208 2024 models have already finished production. 193 are scheduled for or in production. 798 are on order (status 111). Every 2023 has finished production.

I just got Scheduled for Production again after removing the carbon pack a while back. I have been scheduled for production 5 times including this one so lets hope it goes into production.

Honestly I would hope none, since there are a number of 2023's still sitting at the factory / port. I would assume they would move the 23s first but im only guessing lol

This exact thought has actually crossed my mind. 2024 production began on week 31. We have a week 32 and 33 built and sitting at Port Altamira. Both have been there for approximately two weeks. Plenty of Ro-Ros have come and gone in that amount of time as well. BMW’s logistics is currently in the toilet and that is an understatement. Last edited by T_U_D; 08-29-2023 at 11:01 AM.. |

Another data point for you all...
I put a deposit down in May, and received an allocation on Jul 28 with a build week of 39. It's still in Order Received. My friend put a deposit down in June at the same dealership, and he also received an allocation on Jul 28 with a build week of 39. His status went into Scheduled for Production on Aug 24. The only difference between our configs is the paint color and automatic (them) vs manual (me). - (No carbon package) |

I think we are all getting pushed back based on our spec. I have a Aug 1st allocation. ZB, auto, non carbon pkg. Was initially told Week 37 but recently told its now Week 42 and that Week 37 is when the parts are scheduled to be in so it seems to be a parts inventory problem. I see some cars go from allocation to Scheduled for Production the next day and shortly after to In Production which tells me in those cases the factory has all of the parts in stock for that spec at the time they receive the order.

I’m assuming if they can’t cars that have been built out onto ships then they can’t get parts into port either from overseas to continue builds…I’m curious as to how many parts as a percentage or what key components are coming from Germany to Mexico???

The parts would come in via container, which use different docks in the port to RoRo transporters. The issue seems to be RoRo ship availability and the impact of port space for them.
