It’s more challenging without the instructions.

Got’er done in a couple of minutes though!
Bonus shot of the lowered air dam under the bumper for those who were asking about ground clearance. That’s sticking out a good inch or two. |

New oil cooler guard from AutoID available. Slightly more coverage than mishimoto, but looks like it might sit lower.

Had a close call with a rogue piece of wood drifting over to my lane on the highway and me running over it because I didn't see it. If I didn't have my Mishimoto skidplate it could have cooked the oil cooler and potentially the engine as well. If you haven't already, I'd 100% recommend going for one of the various options on the market. I chose Mishimoto and have absolutely zero regrets and am glad I got it before anything bad could happen.

Haha thanks, and no, I was lying on the floor for like 10 minutes and couldn’t find any marring or scrapes anywhere on the car. There was a little stain but I think that was dried soap from when I washed my car since I rubbed a wet paper towel on it and it went away

That being said, Mishimoto still offers higher capacity radiators and oil cooler that should cool more. It's worth considering. |

On a seperately note, I'm happy to see so many people adopting the concept of added 3rd party protection here. We have had 2 G8X engine replacements at my dealership (that I know of) because of damaged oil coolers. This is a rare occurance, but common enough for me to recommend protection to all the G8X owners I come across. |

You should add G42 M240 (and 230?) to the list, too. |

I had a nightmare last night. Ran over some wood pieces and broke something in the front, at first it was water then it was oil, then… I had no car.

If the driver turns the car off on the intial low oil warning, do you think an engine replacement is still necessary? I’m not trying to knock the OP, but he drove (without another option) for .5 miles after the car said shut down immediately. I think if he was able to shut it down immediately, the engine would have been ok. |

He had two choices, risk personal safety and pull over in a construction zone blocking a lane or get off on the next exit. He did the later and I would have done the same. Cars are replaceable. |
