Software reprogramming?
Hey guys,
Has anyone else recently received a call from the dealership about taking the vehicle in for software reprogramming? I just got a call earlier today—curious as to what the updates are. |

It’s probably the same DME software update recall that they are talking about in this G80 thread. The G87 also needs to get the update.

I went in for the recall today. The advisor said it's related to an issue that certain dashboard warning light won't turn on despite errors.

They say nothing critical and doesn’t have to be done immediately, I will just get it done at my next service in June. |

Ok great, thanks guys. My car is in storage and I didn’t notice the voicemail till after hours. Sounds like I can just take care of it this spring.

I expect due to the high risk if the OTA fails, the car is unlikely to run with a failed update on the PCU or DME (it isn't clear whether the update is just to the Power Control Unit, or DME functionality relating to the PCU), it would have to be towed to the dealer.

I wouldn't expect any flash to be update tolerant, they may check and update other modules, too. The Dinan PCU is not the same as the BMW PCU from a function perspective, just a name coincidence, as the BMW module is just responsible for electrical management, not engine power control.

Took my G87 in for break-in service these past few days. They notified me there was a recall during drop off for ECU to be flashed.
Wasn't given much explanation of what the recall was supposed to remedy, but the posts in this thread have answered.

My dealer contacted me to get this update a few days back. This morning the BMW app notified me that there was an update and its installing to my car OTA right now.
Unless its a different update?

Impact of DME Update to Bimmercode
BMW just updated my software from 03/2024.40 to 03/2025.30 and did the "recall" update (#B120125) to the DME.
I may have missed mention of it in this thread or others, but now I no longer have access to the BDC in Bimmercode. I do have access and can code in all the other control units. On the screen showing the list of CUs, BDC is greyed out...when I click to go into the control unit, I a screen indicating that "Coding not possible." I've got a note into Bimnmercode, but has anyone else experienced this? If so, got a fix? |

BC needs to step up their game. We’re all paying customers- they need to fix it. They’ were already behind before this update came out.

I had interior lights as well...plus mirror tilt, "Welcome lights in darkness only," and a perhpas a few others things (have to dig out my list). Nothing I can't live without, I suppose--although the default mirror tilt is annoying. |

My dealbreaker is ASD. If there comes a day I can’t code that crap out, I’ll be selling the car. Once you add amps n subs, ASD is a non-negotiable no-go. Even stock it’s awful.
