Quite disappointed :(

Hello everyone, my name is Damian, I am 36 years old, and with all the effort and sweat this is my first brand new car that I can buy, an 2024 M240i RWD, with all the excitement in the world, the expectations, the happiness... After only 2 weeks, everything is turning into sadness and disappointment...
1) From the 5th day onwards, the car started making a knocking noise at the front, as if it were coming from the wheels, but you can feel it on the steering wheel. I took it to service and they changed the tie roads, the problem was solved, for 4 days, and now, just like before, the noise is progressively returning and getting louder...

2)I also have the famous "thump" noise in the right rear, since day 1, and it feels louder and louder, especially in Sport, extremely annoying.

3)Going back to the noise from the front, the steering wheel feels hard, strange, and something very striking, I don't know what it's like in your cars, but there is no difference in hardness between Comfort, Eco or Sport, they all have the same hardness.

4)Added to all this, after a couple of washes and checking it in depth, it has several body shop problems, such as the lines of the trunk, they are not even, the trunk is like crossed, the molding that surrounds the fender, at the tip It is as if peeled off, and in the slot above the trunk, where the rear glass ends, it has as if it were putty, the putty from the inside of the trunk, like they went overboard and it stayed there, and they painted it on top!!!!

It's incredible, a brand new car, how can it be that they have such POOR quality control?
The worst of all is that reading here, you say that there is no solution to the rear thump problem? The solution is US to pay and put in an aftermarket shock?? I honestly don't understand anything, this can't be. On Tuesday I have an appointment with service, so they can fix everything in the body shop and look at the rear noise and SEE WHAT'S HAPPING IN the front again. Anyone else with SO MANY problems? Can't anything be done about it? Do you think the lemon law should cover if you take the car 3 times and they can't solve it? I don't want to be suffering, losing time and money because of this.

Sorry for making this so long, I needed to vent

The car:

Beautiful car. Sorry you are having so many problems.

Do you have any pictures of the body / paint / trunk issues , so we can see if other cars have similar issues ?

And perhaps you might want to put together a compilation of pictures and videos of all the issues for if the time comes when you need to escalate your issues to BMW corporate directly.

As far as the steering feel , I would agree that the steering does feel heavy and pretty stiff.

Good luck with everything

Sounds like you got really unlucky. Try to see if your dealer can do anything.

Didn't have any of those issues except steering. It does feel a bit numb but sport mode does make the steering noticeably heavier.

Given the severity and persistence of the issues, I’d definitely get in contact with a lemon law attorney

Sadly, this is automotive in 2024. I have the same front end noise but I havent gone in for repairs. I also have the thump under hard acceleration in the rear. The car is a solid platform and as good as others on the market. I just sold a 2023 Tundra for metal shavings left in the long block. You always hear about the Toyota way and their quality. No maker today has real standards in place. I have been in automotive for 25 years here in Greer SC. These suppliers operate on fractional margins with tons of risk. This will continue to happen until makers understand the need to share profits with suppliers.

Specific lemon laws vary state to state. Florida lemon law provides the manufacturer with a final repair opportunity after there are three repair attempts for the same nonconformity [problem], or after the vehicle has been out of service for 15 days or more for the repair of one or more nonconformities.
If you have met this requirement, I definitely recommend you cut your losses and lemon law your new M240i.

I wish we had some sort of 'lemon law' in the UK.

We often end up with the shitty end of the stick here. We pay way too much for little in return.

Also, my car came with a 3 year warranty from new but I hear US owners get a 5 year warranty.

I was going to say check that the shipping pucks were removed but sounds like if went back to dealership at least once.

Noting that the OP has not replied…

There’s a whole raft of Consumer Rights laws to protect you in the UK. Many cases even discussed on these very forums.

In theory yes. In practice less so.
