M2 dead on side of the road -HELP please!
UPDATE #1: Disconnected the JB4 fuel pressure harness and connected the OEM harness. Car starts and idles as it should. I let it idle until the oil was up to temp and no issues. Plugged the JB4 harness back in to the sensor and car would not start. Finally started and sputtered and died just like yesterday. I have an email out to Burger Motorsports and waiting for a reply.
UPDATE #2: Terry from BMS sent me the chip (thanks!) and I installed it. Took the car for a quick 20 min drive and sent logs to Terry for review. Everything looked good. Today, took the car for an hour drive each way with mostly easy driving and a little boost here and there. No hicups and car ran fine. Assuming the issue is fixed at this time, but won't really know for sure unless it does 🤞 EDIT: the first screenshot are generic codes and the second are more specific from Carista. Hey all, 2024 M2 with JB4. Bought 1/2 tank of Shell 93 octane about 15 miles ago. Car sputtered bad and eventally died. Will not restart...got it to start a couple times, but will sputter and die within a few seconds. Pulled codes and got the following. Looks like fuel pressure rail too low and lean condition. Is this most likely bad gas, or have there been noted issues with HPFP, etc on the S58? Waiting on tow truck, but trying to get my ducks in a row for BMW. The P0461 fuel level sensor code is strange as I believe that is for the fuel tank float if I'm not mistaken. Thanks! Last edited by youloze; 10-13-2024 at 06:32 PM.. |

I feel for you OP. However, I don’t know why people mod these cars, they are powerful enough. Enjoy the car as is. If you want a more powerful M2, try to get the upcoming M2 CS. These mods are a waste of money and can lead to trouble. The money you save on mods, you could use as a down payment on your next car.

I'm hoping it's the fuel pressure sensor. Especially considering the car only has 6k miles. I would imagine it's not the HPFP or the low pressure. Unless anyone knows of issues with the pumps on the S58?

THAT is a terrible idea. But I’ll go on record saying that I love JB4

OP, did this happen right after JB4 install or have you been running with the JB4 with no issues and this just occurred out of the blue?

Having seen many of my own not-so-stock cars pulled up on a flatbed, and the poignant reminder OP provided with his picture, I don’t think I’ll diddle with my ECU as I’m fatigued with payin’ for playin’.
Good luck OP - I feel your pain and I hope the price isn’t onerous.

Jesus, posts here always turn into wars.
If anyone can shed some insight to my codes I would greatly appreciate it! |

So,
I'm looking at the codes fromy experience (not S58) with an N54 of it isn't your JB4 once you remove it it could be the low pressure bulk fuel pump or the HPFP. Either can cause the type of sputtering issue you describe. I you start the car will it idle or does it just die? Idling and not dying until you try to pull of will indicate a fuel delivery issue and not bad gas. Fuel rail pressure is readable via OBD if you have a BT or WIFI reader via even free apps like Torque on Android. I'm suspecting you LPFP in the tank since you are getting some plausibility readings for fuel level. The float and pump are all one unit.
