Looking for opinions on cockpits
Looking at getting in to a fanatec clubsport v2.5 setup and I'm trying to find a cockpit that will be stationary and not need to be packed away. Was looking at GT Omega which is around $400. Would like to stay under $500 but if it's solid and doesn't really flex when you're at 11/10ths I might go up to $1000 tops. Do not intend to mount a screen to it, just the wheel setup.

In my opinion get something like the Simlab P1x set up with aluminum extrusion. This type of set up is stiff enough if you decide to go Direct drive and the flexibility in mounting of different accessories. Look for something similar if the P1X is more than you want to spend.

I agree with the 80/20 direction. SimLab is a good option and there is a US based company called TrakRacer which sells locally. |

If I don't intend to move up to direct drive is the extra $300 really worth it?

Because extrusions are more or less standard(make sure company uses standard extrusions) that means even if the company you purchased from is no longer producing the same rig you can use a different companies product in attaching to your cockpit. This on top of the extra rigidity. The Fanatec Clubsport plus steering wheel price comes really close to the Accuforce V2 price. It is a big step above in feedback. |

I have a 2.5 fanatc wheelbase and the inverted v3 pedals. I had a playseat as a rig for 3 years but it flexed way too much. This Xmas I upgraded to the trakracer 160 with the triple monitor mount. Worth every penny if you race regularly. The assembly was lengthy but again, it was all worth it in the end.

If you aren't going with a DD wheel that trackracer 160 is more than enough for rigidity. if you do intend to go upto a DD wheel than spend a little more for the Simlab P1x. The wheel deck on the P1X is a lot stiffer due to design and material. The trackracer 160 wheel deck design is more like the Simlab Evo and reviewers have indicated that there is some flex with that design with the DD wheel. Also with a DD wheel go with a standalone monitor mount rather than one that connects to the cockpit.
