Cool Any League of Legends (LoL) players?

If so, feel free to add me and we can play together sometime!

IGN: Mirrors Edge

For those whom of which are unfamiliar about League of Legends, LoL is a free to play MMOBA based game that's extremely popular--especially overseas. The game was created by a company based in Santa Monica, California by the name of Riot.

LoL is currently the pioneer in bringing eSports into reality & mainstream media, with a record number of players world wide and an extremely competitive pro scene, with teams spanning across North America, European Union, Korea, and China, as the "major" regions with the highest competitive play.

Believe it or not, the teams currently in the competitive spotlight have fans that of which convey fervor comparable to that of traditional sports such as Basketball, Football, and even soccer! As noted by last years world championship (2014) which was held in Seoul, Korea's sold-out National World Cup Soccer Stadium! The 2013 world championship was held in Los Angeles and sold out the Staples Center!

If anyone has any questions, needs help, or want more information about the game, feel free to PM me or simply reply in this thread! I'm not the best player by any means, but I'm definitely better than the average, as I'm currently a Platinum (ELO/MMR) player as an ADC (Attack Damage Carry) main!

Leagues from worst to best are as follows: Bronze, Silver, Bronze, Platinum, Diamond, Master, and Challenger.

Information about the game:

The game is played with ten people in one match, 5vs5, on a map called Summoners Rift. The objective for either team is to inevitably destroy their opponents "Nexus" or "Base" through use of various strategies and champion (playable characters) compositions. Taking/destroying your enemies turrets and inhibitors (each team has 11 turrets/defendable structures and three inhibitors) grants further map control for your team and suffocation of neutral objectives that are placed on the map. In truth, the game has extreme depth and conveying everything in a concise and non-wall-of-text manner in one thread is well.. impossible. Simply put, you team up with four other members against five other people and try to exert superior game knowledge and "mechanics" in order to achieve victory and "climb the ladder" that is known as the ranking system. The ranking system is based on the aforementioned Leagues which displays the various progressive "skill" of those within said League: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master & Challenger Tier.

Roles & What Are Roles?

Bottom Lane:
Marksman (Ranged AD Carry)
Support

Mid Lane:
Mage, Assassin (AP Carry)

Solo Top Lane:
One of the following: Tank, Fighter, Off-Tank, or some variation

Jungle:
The Jungler goes here, and those champions are generally Assassins, Tanks, or Fighters

Role Information:

SUPPORT

A support is someone who makes their teammates stronger, primarily by sustaining the Marksman role throughout lane phase in order to ensure the best possible transition into Mid & Late Game. The best supports are those who have a lot of crowd control effects like stuns, slows, snares, knock ups, silences, and things such as that. They also have abilities that help or buff their allies like shields, heals, movement speed boosts, and stat buffs. Sometimes a tanky character will go support, meaning that they'’re also going to provide a good initiation factor for the character, though we'’ll get into tanks further down.

Essentially your job is to protect your Marksman (ADC), provide vision for your team, buff your allies, provide initiation, and peel off enemies from your carries (AP Carry & ADC).

Champion Examples (Support): Lulu, Janna, Sona, Soraka, Taric, Thresh, Blitzcrank, Zilean, Zyra, Nami, Leona, Fiddlesticks, Nunu, Annie

Marksman (ADC):

A Marksman, also called an AD Carry, is a person who deals damage via ranged auto attacks, utilizes life steal for surviving, builds attack speed, and sometimes critical strike chance. They also use abilities that are generally enhanced by building attack damage items. A lot of them are good at poking and harassing from a safe distance. Not only that, but many Marksman (though not all) have steroid abilities that boost their attacks in some way. In the game, your job is to last hit as many minions (which grants gold ($$) and gold translates to items which leads to damage--your primary role, a damage dealer). Last hitting is CRUCIAL for the AD Carry because this type of champ is dependent on gold in order to buy necessary items. As a Marksman levels, they do not get very strong naturally. They get overwhelmingly strong through buying items. Another thing you need to do as a Marksman, is stay alive. During the late game phase, you will be crucial for taking towers and inhibitors. Your attack speed and damage are vital for pushing objectives like that quickly and safely. More often than not, you're primary Target #1 for the opposing team. In the late game phase, you can single handily determine whether or not your team claims victory or suffers defeat. Your primary objective is to deal as much damage as possible while simultaneously staying alive for as long as possible.

Champion Examples (AD Carry): Caitlyn, Jinx, Ashe, Sivir, Tristana, Miss Fortune, Quinn, Vayne, Kog’Maw, Twitch, Graves, Draven, Varus, Corki, Lucian, and Ezreal

Mid Lane:

This is a unique lane, as you're the "other" carry of your team. Rather than providing consistent damage through auto-attacks like your fellow AD Carry in the bottom lane, you provide the ability to zone entire enemy teams or completely neutralize and or assassinate a crucial target of the enemy team through another source of damage (often) called Ability Power. Let me explain why; Mid Laners do most of their damage via their abilities. In the Mid Lane, you'’ll see AP Casters, Mages, or Assassins. For the most part, these champions can deal high amounts of damage in a short time, called bursts. Many mages use all of their abilities in this big burst to do the most damage, and as a result, are left vulnerable due to cool downs. A Marksman can use his abilities and still do damage via auto-attacks. Mid Laners have a weak auto attack, so they must use their abilities wisely. You're the supplemental carry of the team and since you play the lane in the middle of the map, your prowess is crucial for map control and for transitioning your team into the Mid & Late game where your AD Carry starts to transition into their power spikes. You provide peel, team wide zoning control, crowd control, possibility to "delete" an important/squishy opposing enemy AP Carry or AD Carry and map control from the middle of the map.

Champion examples (Mid Lane):

Ranged AP: Ahri, Ryze, Fiddlesticks, Anivia, Elise, Heimer, Heimer, Karthus, Annie, Syndra, LeBlanc, Cassiopeia, Syndra, Veigar, Morgana, Ziggs, Nidalee, Malzahar, Orianna, Swain, Xerath, Brand, Lux, Lissandra,

Assassins: LeBlanc, Akali, Diana, Evelynn, Zed, Katarina, Nidalee, Talon, Kassadin

Melee AP: Fizz, Diana, Zed, Evelynn, Katarina, Talon, Akali, Gragas, Yasuo

Tank:

A tank oriented champ is one that usually has high health and high defense and are generally found in both the Top Lane and Jungle role. This allows them to safely initiate in teamfights so the damage dealers can follow up. A tank absorbs the damage, blocks skill shots, and distracts the enemy. They are able to take a serious beating and dive towers, while still being able to be a big enough threat if ignored. As previously mentioned a tank can also act as a support in certain situations. But for the most part, a tank will go top or into the jungle.

True Tanks: Shen, Malphite, Voliebear, Jarvan IV

Off Tank/Fighter/Bruiser:

These three terms are sometimes used interchangeably, and while LolWiki has a definite definition, most of the people you play with have never read the definition. So let’s just lump them together and talk about them. For simplicity’s sake, we’ll call them Fighters since that'’s the tag used in the client.

A fighter is a champion that has some attributes of a tank (ability to soak damage, initiate, use some CC), but lacks in one or more areas. (This is the definition used for Off-Tank in the lolwiki).

A bruiser is a hybrid champion between tanking and DPS that combines the survivability of a tank and the damage of a DPS (damage per second) or a caster.

As you can see, the difference in terms is unclear and minimal. These champions will generally either go into the Jungle or into the Top Lane.

Off Tank: Riven, Singed, Nasus

Bruiser/Fighter: Darius, Garen, Rumble, Irelia, Jarvan IV, Fiora, Olaf, Diana, Poppy, Tryndamere, Gangplank, Wukong, Renekton, Jax, Jayce, Kayle

Jungle:

A Jungler has the trickiest role to define, as far as what champions do best here. It is a varied role, because many champions are able to do this. But for the most part, the typical Jungler is one who can survive fighting the jungle camps, usually with enough health left over to "gank" one of the lanes. "Ganking" is a term used to "surprise" an enemy in the opposing lane of your ally and provide an advantage to your teammate by securing a kill or applying pressure, which translates to not only a gold advantage but an experience advantage as well. Because of this, typical Junglers usually have a higher health pool, some sort of build in sustain like life steal or spell vamp, and specifically use the Smite summoner spell. Another characteristic of a good jungler is that the champion has a high gank potential, meaning that when they pop out of a bush, they have some damaging crowd control effects that allows them to pick off targets.

As I mentioned before, many types of characters can fill this role and there's no one single definition. Some supports are able to jungle, and few AP Mids are able to jungle. Most often, though, you'll see bruisers and tanks jungling just because of their higher health. It's rare for an AD Carry to go into the role, though. Regardless, the jungle role is, sometimes, more about the summoner than the champion. This particular role requires an extensive knowledge of the game, including the ins and outs of enemy champions, what time dragon and baron spawn and respawn, as well as knowing where to place the proper wards. While the support wards, the jungler often needs to as well to protect his jungle camps.

Champion Examples (Jungle): Amumu, Xin Zhao, Udyr, Skarner, Vi, Warwick, Rengar, Sejuani

The "Golden Age" is over and equilibrium within the universe will be restored when CLG tilts off the face of the earth, as expected!

Ahaha, just kidding, but go Team Liquid!
