M2 MP rear spoiler
So I have an M2 on order (should get production date anyday), and I wanted to put the flat carbon fiber spoiler on back (not the wing that sticks up like a Subaru). It isn't currently listed on the M performance parts page on bmwusa. The dealership told me the part was back ordered for an unknown amount of time (which is why I ordered it so early). The part came in and it looks great, but I'm not sure if it's right.
The part number on spolier indicates 51195A51348 (Spoiler G42 US). So it is apparently a spoiler for regular 2 series. Would this fit on on M2, if not, does anyone have correct part numbers? Part numbers for all M Performance parts would be great, because others like mirror caps are also missing. |

The rear spoiler should fit without any issues. I's strongly encourage you to look for the parts you want on Ali Express vs paying the ridiculous prices for oem BMW pieces. They're all pretty much the same.
*The part numbers show for me on shopbmwusa.com. Example: These are listed for $2,368.90. You can get cf mirror caps on Ali for ~$100 or so. Part # 51168075063 BMW M Performance Carbon Fiber Mirror Cap, Left #51168075064 BMW M Performance Carbon Fiber Mirror Cap, Right Part #51195A51348 BMW M Performance Rear Spoiler in Carbon Fiber - $617. You can find the same spoiler aftermarket for 1/3 the price.

Not sure what ZC9 means, but you should check out AliExpress if you don't believe him. Carbon parts (of admittedly varying quality, some OEM quality, others not) have gotten pretty cheap in recent years.
I personally got the MP Style spoiler off AliExpress for $60, and while it's not carbon, it works for me and my car.

You can get a replica (e.g., made from a mold of the oem) for 1/3 the price all over the place. OEM BMW parts are nothing special, and probably made in the same Chinese factories.
I bought an OEM MPerformance front splitter for my G20. It was cheap, flimsy abs plastic absolutely no different from the aftermarket pieces on ebay for $100. Same for the side skirts, I had both MPerformance & ebay. MPerformance were $550, ebay was $100 - exactly the same. |

“Part #51195A51348 BMW M Performance Rear Spoiler in Carbon Fiber - $617. You can find the same spoiler aftermarket for 1/3 the price” I repeat. You cannot find this part # for 1/3 the price. A replica is not “the same”. Stop the backtracking with “replica”, “identical molds” blah blah blah and double talk. Just say you’re wrong. Regarding OEM parts, that’s your opinion and “probably” is a worthless argument. |

I highlighted the key word there for you. And yes, a replica is the same in design, appearance, fitment, etc. That doesn't seem to be that difficult to understand. Re: the OEM parts/aftermarket, it's not my opinion, I provided examples of two parts that I had in my possession. The parts were identical in every way. The MPerformance front splitter didn't even have BMW or a part # stamped on it. I had to show my invoice to the buyer when I sold it to prove it was a BMW part. But if you must waste you $ on the OEM rear spoiler, you can buy it online for $481 instead of the $617.

Seriously, what are you not grasping? I guarantee you couldn't pick which parts are oem and which parts are aftermarket on any of my vehicles. If you like overpaying for the same part, nobody is stopping you.
You went on a rant because you misread the suggestion I provided to the OP. You seem to not understand what same or replica mean, "of an identical type, exactly similar". So like I said, you can get the same spoiler aftermarket for 1/3 - 1/2 the price. Resorting to name calling and unfounded insults defeats your entire argument.

Are you that naive to think that they are all made the same (quality wise)? You dont need to answer but I am sure you will. There are more pieces of junk flying around compared to quality pieces. Feel free to state othwrwise and keep buying the crap from Ali and ebay...I dont even need to see it in person when I can see it looks like crap in pictures. I just dont get it...spend $70k plus on the car and then worry about a couple few hundred dollars and cheap out when trying to upgrade the looks and/or performance. |

Like I said you can pay $617 for the oem spoiler from BMW or you can pay $481 from an online parts seller if you must the OEM spoiler. Or you can buy a replica aftermarket spoiler that is identical for $200. If you think $2,300 BMW cf mirror caps are any better than $200 cf mirror caps, I don't know what to tell you. Many who pay $70k for a car, or $100k for a car, or $150k for a car, are able to do so because they don't just throw excess $ around when their are cheaper alternatives. It's really don't as difficult a concept as some are making it out to be.

I went with AutoID for my spoiler and could not be happier. It is just a small carbon fiber lip. If you want something bigger, I recently saw the Stradale designs swan neck spoiler and it was nice.

I've also seen people mention AutoID as a good vendor and their read spoilers are reasonably priced (MPerformance-style $281).

I’ll probably stick with the OEM. I’ve had it on my old 335 and 535, and it looked great. The 335 carbon pieces were on there for over 4 years and never delaminated or changed color. I ‘may’ consider the mirror caps, only because OEM seem excessively high priced for that little of carbon fiber.

I never understood the argument that $600 for an OEM part is "ridiculous" for a $70K+ car. I would personally rather buy the part from the manufacturer and not have any concern about fitment/quality and have a warranty. If this was a used WRX then cheap knockoffs from Ali Express would be something I'd be willing to gamble on so I would have more money for vape cartridges. But it's not a used WRX, I don't vape, and I'm not a gambler so I'll go OEM. To some that means I "overpaid" but to me it's worth every penny. Spend your money however you like and do whatever makes you happy.
