Most on this forum already know but this is an interesting read nonetheless.
The night-beating technology race, which saw a fierce battle between Audi and BMW to be first to market with laser-powered headlights, is over, with BMW admitting it is quietly “disappearing” the long-range high-beam technology. While the long-range lighting system is fitted to the current BMW X7, 4 Series GranCoupe and Audi Q8 models, BMW large-car product manager Andreas Suhrer admitted it has no future product plans for laser-lighting. It's cost cutting. They can claim it's because the US market had output limits, and that LEDs are better for short ranges... But we all know it's cost cutting.
The 2000s and 2010s saw innovation and development to win customers. The 2020s are the decade of cost cutting and "f the customer". |

I too have the lasers on my G05 with anti dazzle enabled. Love how far the lights penetrate on dark backroads. Can only imagine how much better the euro lasers must have been.

They are awesome. All BMW has to do is charge 6k or whatever they feel necessary. People will pay it.
