Nice , thank you. I'm really going to do my best to live with the stock base stereo by adding a subwoofer.

The Bose in my Infiniti is pretty mediocre . But after I added a 12 , i was able to live with it.

Only difference is for the install , I cut and spliced into the factory wiring for the install . Definitely not going that route for the bmw

I think I have it all figured out .

Just one more question - Where exactly did you run the ground to (amp ground) ?

To me it I don’t think they go down to 20hz, they probably have a subsonic filter around 40hz. They maybe actually play up 500hz since they are pulling double duty for sub-bass and midbass. You mentioned disconnecting the 8” woofers, does that mean your sub is playing >100hz??
I am seeing the same thing. I did the bimmertech upgrade and the 4" woofers in the doors are incapable of playing at meaningful levels below 200hz. You need the underseat woofers to do lower midrange and midbass duty. I went with the audio tech Fischer amp with DSP and have mine crossed over somewhere around 400hz with a steep slope on the low pass and 60hz on the high pass. I also ran. 10" sealed subwoofer in trunk. Without DSP the under seat woofers have a node around 90-100hz which just sounds boomy and too much midrange presence from them drags the sound stage down and confuses the image. Not much you can do about it, still tweaking the time alignment hopefully will clean that up.

I do like that it's out of the way, but it isn't secured to the car very well, it's secured using a heavy gauge wire that is secured to the back of the amp rack and runs through the cargo liner panel behind the rack (see pics below) - so it's not going anywhere, but, eh. You can see it behind the amp rack in the first image below. I am trying to avoid cutting/putting holes in anything, except for the pin sized hole in the cargo liner. Still need to do a little more wire organization.

I'm considering either mounting the amp to the sub box, which I've never been a fan of, or building a flat amp rack to sit in front of the subwoofer. But then it's consuming trunk space and may collect more dust/dirt. If anyone has any ideas that avoids drilling/cutting holes into anything, please share.

It is way more bass than I was planning for. The gain on the LC2i is set to output 5V to the RCA's, which is the amps max allowed input, and the amp gain is at around 7 o'clock. The amp does not even get warm to the touch after 1+ hours. Best bang for your buck amp IMO.
  • Sundown Audio SA-12 D2 subwoofer (v1, rev3) wired at 1-ohm
  • Sundown Audio SFB-1000D amplifier 1000w RMS x 1 @ 1-ohm
  • AudioControl LC2i Pro
  • Skar ported enclosure, 2 cube feet tuned to 36hz
  • Technic PNP plug-n-play harness
  • KnuKonceptz 4 awg OFC power wire
  • Amp rack built using MDF
  • Wire ferrules used on all connections
Sorry to keep bugging you with questions . Might be a dumb question - but the 12V power supply to the LC2i , is it just spliced off of the main 12v power wire from the battery to the Sundown amp ? Did you happen to take any pics of the wiring ? Do you think it would be an issue to just connect the smaller guage power wire directly to the Main Amp power wire? Or do I need some kind of little power connector box ?

Also , I'm assuming the 4 speaker wire high inputs into the LC2i are connected to the TecnicPNP harness ?

The TechnicPNP harness has 12v output leads so I used that to power the LC2i. And yes, high output leads from the technicpnp harness go into the LC2i, and the LC2i then gives you low level RCA outputs to go to your amp.

Cool, you’re going to enjoy it, I am glad I added the amp+sub. Be sure to buy an inline fuse for the LC2i

Yes sir! With your help, your pictures and your links, I was able to install everything perfectly it's actually a fairly easy and simple install, with everything located in the trunk. The hardest part was knowing which wires to use from the harness. And also for whatever reason with the amp that I have, I have to keep the line output converter switch over setting on all the time to keep the subwoofer on all the time even when the volume is very low. But everything works great. Thank you again for your help

No, lol. It's just a very generic basic cheap setup. It's just a Sony 12-in in a non-ported box. With a small Sony amp just big enough to push the 12-in. The amp is just mounted directly to the box, with rubber bushings in between the amp and box.
