Racechip GTS Black for G87 M2?

Has anyone tried a Racechip GTS Black on a G87 M2? I've seen a few retailers have one of the models listed alongside G80/G82.

Thank you! Might have to just go Dahler then.

Any insight? I don't know if I trust JB4 on the M2 even though I ran that on my M240i. It just never felt "right".

I'll be running Eventuri intakes, AA DPs, AA EL midpipe, and AA valved rear section. I need something that will get me trapping like 141 at Pocono so i can compete in the 130-139.99 bracket.

Racechip has M3s dynoing at over 600whp with fewer supporting mods, that's why I was leaning that direction.

Jb4, Dahler or Racechip will all get the job done. they all add boost primary to make the additional power.

I'd still pick the Jb4 since its not adding boost blindly, its got more visibility and control then any other piggyback

Here's my issue with the JB4, and if you can educate me id really appreciate it.

With the B58TU that was in my G42, BMS was recommending running the absolute maps over the additive maps. People were saying map 2 was breaking stuff. When is run map 4 on shell 93 the car was noticeably slower than on map 1, so I just ran map 1. However the problem was that it was only slightly faster than stock. I only picked up 0.3s in the quarter and my trap speeds were barely higher.

I never ran map 5 because I was terrified to nuke the engine and map 4 never felt right.

Are these sorts of issues relegated to the B58s exclusively?

What map would you suggest running with the mods I have planned on a JB4?

You're kind of swaying my decision here because I do like having the ability to clear codes and run some ethanol if I wanted to. I just don't see guys with JB4s running on the dyno like with racechip or running down the track like I see with the Dahler.

Without a deep analysis of the issue and your data logs, i cant say for sure. However, I dont know how Race Chip or Dahler would rectify this situation as neither of them offers absolute maps as an option.

With these two tuners, you would be running additive maps, similar to your previous setup with the Jb4. If there were to be any issues (which I believe are unlikely), they would likely persist with either tuner.

So you recommend additive maps for the S58 with the JB4?

The additive maps will work the same on any tuner, i recommed the Jb4 because it allows you to datalog and ensure the car is running the added boost safely.

Just to be clear, the recommendation is based off the extra safety measure and some features like better traction.

In terms of results, they all will give you the same power as they are all adding the same PSI

Really appreciate the insight. Thank you.

My issue with the JB4 is how ancient and backwards their HW is. I mean come-on it is 2023. They keep on selling stuff that you have to open the box and use 1970s DB9 connectors to add Bluetooth, plus it uses really old/slow processors.

All the other companies that offer piggyback "tunning" (Dahler, Carbhan, etc) all chose to license and rebrand the Racechip HW. It is a modern sealed box, with built-in bluetooth, a map display (if you want to not even bother with a phone app), an awesome bypass connector to take to the dealer and/or remove the Racechip, much higher quality connectors, etc.

JB4 seems to do the job - I don't want to disparage them. But come-on. Move with the times. Have some pride in your product and upgrade the HW to 2023 standards.

Also, Racechip is offering a 2 year (I believe up to $10K) matching warranty if your engine has issues that are denied by BMW.

I choose to support them.

If Carbahn and Dahler are using a rebranded version of Racechip, why do they have different torque curves and horsepower levels? I watched a video by a YouTuber WhatsyourForte and the racechip seemed to be way smoother than JB4 and Dahler made the most power by a considerable margin

Because they are using the same HW, but not necessarily the same SW.

Each company is free to develop their own tunes for the Racechip HW. I'm sure you know that tuning is all about the SW (the parameters, set, boost additions per RPM, etc).

I'm not surprised Racechip is smoother than JB4 as it has more processing power and speed, but I think any difference is really minute. These boxes all manipulate the boost, and rely on the DME to schedule fuel, timing and work in the knock prevention. They can never be that different for pump gas.

Actually, we have finalized the US mapping last week.
I’ve been busy with posting for G05/G06/G07 M60i and G09 XM, totally forgot about you guys.
It is already available, but exclusive to me for now since I helped in doing R&D on US mapping.

It is live on my website.

Thank you! Got any promo codes?

Did you run it on a dyno? Any idea for power numbers?

Alright I ordered one!

Plan is to get it installed at the same time as my Eventuri intakes. I don't know when those will be here, but I placed the order 7/31 and was told two weeks, so hopefully some time soon.

I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, but I'm going to see if I can get this thing on a dyno for before and after runs. I've never used a dyno before though so this will be a complete learning experience for me.

Hopefully we can push past 550whp with intakes and Active Autowerke downpipes.

That’s too bad. I was hoping to see a dyno and some Dragy run comparisons like you guys did with the XM.

I know. Wish customer was close by and have plenty of time.

XM is my car, so I can spare time and get dyno whenever.
