Add me to the list of people who love it and use it every day. It keeps my eyes up, not looking down at the dash gauges.

abrandonment, I agree with you, its a distraction in normal driving . I have been turning mine off in public use for a few years now. With it off the dash presents all the info in a nice format, presenting the driver with all the essentials needed.

But on the track it's an excellent feature , I noticed this past weekend I was getting G forced so hard in some corners I would lose sight of the HUD because I had it too low. I would be at the apex of a corner and be curious how fast I was going but couldn't see it at the angle I was compressed to. So on the way home I moved the HUD display to max height for next weekend on the course.

See I'm the opposite, I do not find it distracting at all and if anything it allows me to keep my eyes on the road even more since I don't have to look at the cluster to see my speed. But I also only keep it on sport mode and I think it has less 'stuff' on it.

I agree. I had to consciously look for it on my drive to work this morning. Most of the time, if I'm looking straight ahead, I'm looking over it. I glance at it periodically to check my speed.

I didn't option the HUD on my M2 as I was saving some dollars in the build to allocate to the MP HAS. I've used the HUD in loaner cars before and one thing I noticed was the clarity of the screen would diminish when wearing sunglasses.

Is that a thing or was it just me?

it's polarized lenses that dim it

Great now I do not know if I should include it in my build. I never had a HUD in any of my previous cars so not sure if it is something I would miss. It would he nice to just pocket the $1,200 or use the funds for something else.

the sport mode version of it is nice to have, and having your speed floating out there in front of you is useful in a car like this cause 90mph feels like 70

If you've never had it, you're never gonna miss it. It also depends on your personal characteristics as a driver. I have a manual transmission and drive entirely by feel. I can gauge speed and gearing based on feedback from the car, not from a screen. Therefore, the HUD is useless to me.

I like it, and have gotten used to it over the years to not be a distraction.

HOWEVER: I will say that when I was using the car's nav system, there were some moments where an entire complex map with every road nearby came up in a web of lines in the full extent of the HUD.

That WAS distracting since it was so much stuff showing up all at once covering the entirety of its display view.

That being said, it's also something that didn't happen throughout the whole time, since if you're just driving straight for a while on the same road, most of the stuff disappears except for a little arrow and how many more miles you have until the next change.

As mentioned by someone else, I think it does help to reduce the brightness to be a bit less in your face.

You can also minimize it in the settings. It's very helpful to have the speed limit pop up on the HUD as well. I "commute" 250 mi each way every weekend. I couldn't tell you where any speed limit signs are along the route, and the speed limit changes from 80 to 70 to 75 to 65 to 75 at various points. I drove by no less than 5 Highway Patrol (that I saw) "hiding" along the side last night checking speed. Having the speed limit in the HUD allows me to easily & quickly adjust my speed either via ACC or manually.

I have PPF on my windscreen and it puts weird squiggles in it that I found distracting so off it it went.

Whilst I did have it on I found it a bit much a night compared to the older simpler ones I’ve had in the past.

Mine has been on for a few days now and I think I may be getting used to it.

As for optioning vs not, its a tiny fraction of the overall cost of the car, so I figured why not have it and not want it vs want it and have no option to have it.
