Wait. Is this an infinite money glitch?

Is BMW FS going to let someone "takeover" your lease? I haven't heard of that happening. I'm thinking you will have to buy it out from BMW FS and then sell it to someone else.

I know the dealer can buy it back, but I know BMW FS makes it real hard for a customer to get out of it on their own. That's my personal experience as a CA. I'm genuinely curious how this will work out.

BMW FS is very well known in the leasing community to accommodate lease transfers. Some other manufacturers/banks make it a PIA, but BMW FS actually makes it very easy. The person who is interested will have to submit an application and ofc be approved, and there is a lease transfer fee they’ll have to pay ($400 iirc).

OP could probably post his M2 on Swap a Lease and possibly ask for a couple thousand on top and he’ll likely have multiple bids on the car.

it’s your only car?

We raised our kid from newborn to now 7yo in ONLY a 1M. It was no big deal really.

But 2 kids is a bit different. If it’s your 2nd car then just keep it—but if it’s your only car maybe not.

It’s too bad your kid is 16 months. If he/she was 3 I’d say keep the car, because by the time the newborn is here, you would be flipping the seat to be forward facing and place it behind you, while the other seat could go rear facing behind the passenger.

With 2 rear facing you’d be pushed forward too much…

Wish you could keep the M2 & just get a nice daily driver instead for the time being & while they're both still little. Maybe a used but clean & safe X3 perhaps.

Yes I have done a lease swap before using Swap a lease to find the buyer. It is a fairly smooth and quick process. I did it during the pandemic and it was just a few days. Just don't hand over the car until they officially give you the forms saying it is in the name of the new buyer. Also if you can avoid it, don't let them test drive. I had someone almost run into the curb because they wanted to rev the car a little but it was still in drive.
