PPF - % of owners doing it

I've never PPF'd any of my cars but am considering it for my incoming G87. For current owners, what have you done?

I've done both partial and full. Unless you are looking to go with a stealth/satin finish or something, I really don't see a reason to go full. But I won't have another car that I care about without any ppf at all.

I've never done it but I've ordered mine in BSM and am planning on doing PPF on the entire car.

Not even sure I want to know what it's gonna cost, but I can't bear to see that paint get rock chips and scratches as the years go on.

I have a bmw g80 now in mint green. I did not ppf. The car needs to have the bumper resprayed 🥹 so the new m2 is def getting ppf on the bumper and the hood.

Too much

About 7500, ppf market in AZ seems dominated by the Scottsdale clientele so the good shops follow the market. I almost skipped it after the quotes were all over the 6500 I was hoping, but I've got kids and the confidence that I won't be irked inside if they swipe it with a scooter or something is worth it. The neighbor kid set his bike handle on the hood of our 135i, left a decent gouge and I kept my cool outside but inside was not so cool, n I never want to be irked with my kids for being kids.

Just curious, what color did you order. Trying to decide if I want to do my zb or not.

ZB, I like the color a lot, but think the dynoprism will be spot on.

Don’t agree with the idea of PPF, so not doing anything other than coating.

The roads in az are not well maintained, nor is there street sweepers in construction zones, my x3 had more rock chips than I could count within 1 year. I never had the issue in CA, but the roads are maintained better.

I live in NY where the government is incapable of maintaining roadways.

My car is BSM and is getting full PPF as I make this post.

I've never done PPF on a car and I try to be extremely careful, but as careful as I am I still ended up with a bunch of rock chips on my M240.

You never know when some douche bag is going to cut across into the HOV lane and send stones flying everywhere. It's just not worth it with this car.

They're doing Xpel ultimate plus PPF and Xpel prime XR plus window tint on all glass. All in with tax it's costing me just over $7,800. If I lived in CT or NJ I wouldn't feel the need to do this. It's just NY sucks so bad.

How’s the PPF holding up after getting the chips itself?

XPEL Ultimate Plus "Track Pack" here.

*full hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, lower rockers, rear impact area, door cups, mirrors, edge guards, door sills.*

On top of that, he surprised me with PPFing my screens.

My car is coming in BSM. I am going to PPF the entire vehicle. Plus full tint and IR???? the front windshield inside to help with the heat.

Its worth it.

My F90 BMW M5, I did the full front end and my current Tesla Model S, I had a full stealth wrap completed. (Tesla paint is crap)

Couple years ago my wife scraped the right front bumper on a wall with the M5 (Yes, we are still married).

No paint damage. Pulled off the PPF and reinstalled a new piece.

Won't drive a car without it.

Cost x benefit ratio is unfavourable in my opinion. Prepaying for repainting needed panels ahead of time while having a car with visible film on top.

But I fully understand why folks do it.

I'm in the same boat and cannot justify the price.

Most good installs you’ll never know the PPF is there.

Im all for PPF. The obvious is for the rock chip protection, but another plus is the huge advantage for detailing, especially darker paints like BSM. Paint swirling is inevitable over time, even with ceramic coating. With PPF you don’t worry about swirls, and bath time is a breeze.

I had my m2 for 3 years. Had one chip in the ppf that was slightly too big for it to self heal. Paint underneath was fine and the whole care looked pristine.
