BMW M Town Test Drive
I got the chance this morning to compare the new '20 M340i to my '19 M2 Competition at Sewell BMW Grapevine. I am happy to report that I totally made the right decision. They had a very optioned out orange M340i available. I set it up in sport mode with the 8 speed automatic in "S". Honestly it felt very much like my older E90 335i in terms of acceleration and braking (the M340i did have upgraded brakes), but handling and body roll are much more evident than even my old car. As far as ride quality, interior, and technology, it's a home run. This would be a perfect 'daily driver' as long as I can keep my M2C for track days and back road runs.
I didn't drive them, but they also had a LBB M2C, Gold M5C, X3MC, & M850i. All fun. They just give you the keys and a route to drive and say, be back in 20 minutes... Mostly city streets around the dealership, but there were some areas to test the acceleration and braking. Handling not so much with light traffic.

Very cool! I'm headed to BMW of Dallas this afternoon. I want to check out the X3M and see if it's worth trying to talk the wife into getting one.

I was there as well and loved getting to drive both the M2C and X3MC. The M2C is such a huge improvement over the 235i that I have, but, as you hinted, I barely got enough time to get a real feel for the handling.
