Hi,

I'm a newbie and I've had my 325i for about 8months now with 11,000km on it.
No major problems so far but recently experienced a very worrying engine malfunction:

*up a fairly steep hill
*at least a 1/4 tank of gas

I reached a junction and reached a near stop to look left and right before going around the corner. While going around the corner, the steering wheel shook, I couldn't turn and the engine died. (perhaps the engine died first - seems most likely). I think I changed from D to DS or DS to D a good 5 or 10seconds before that.

After the car stalled, I restarted the car and there have been no problems since.

I sent the car for service today and they did a test drive as well as diagnostics but it came out with a clean bill of health. They have mentioned that they will send the version report to Germany but are uncertain whether BMW will take it seriously. This is very worrying as I often have to turn a corner on a busy road and engine failure at that point would almost certainly mean a bad accident.

There are several posts here where engine failure occurred mostly on 335s.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi all,

I did take it to the dealership, they took it for a test drive, did a diagnostics and it was showing no problems. I asked them to send the data and info to germany for more feedback and they said they would but didn't sound convinced that their inquiry would be taken seriously.

Any other thoughts?

could have easily been bad gas.

but even 91 varies from gas station to gas station and each time you pump in gas its gonna be slightly different... *shrugs* i go to the same shell stations everytime and so far haven't had any problems.
