It would also be helpful to know what many of you have coded (i.e. what is beneficial and what isn't).

I know that many highly recommend coding the B&W audio. I would code the turn signals to 5 repetitions instead of 3.
Check out this video for some other features you may want to enable/disable.

I am able to code my MY24 G87 with Bimmercode, and only touched just a few things so far, like turning the initial warnings off.

Coding changes:
Startup warning off - 9/23
B&O audio options enabled - 9/23

FYI - Bimmercode just officially added support for the G87. Just update the app.

Any new functions you could tell, or just being able to choose 2 series instead of 3 now? If the latter, a bit lame, but keeping my hopes up for more functionality.

Thanks for sharing, just updated it.

Oh wow finally. What's new that people are looking to try? I'm mostly interested in turning off ASD, I had read it wasn't working when choosing M3 to code

Some of those, like "Close tailgate with button in the interior without long press" obviously don't apply (or is that a G42 option?). It would be nice if the list was tailored just to the specific model.

It's recommended that any car that was coded by choosing another model should be restored to factory defaults from the backup that was created in BimmerCode and then start over. That will not only clean up your backups but will make sure there are no weird issues going forward. I know some will disagree with this, to them I say have fun.

Is "layout" here how we can default it to the sport mode speedo and tach?

Yeah, BimmerCode lists options that are available under both G42 and G87. For instance, you can have an M2 with CF roof, but it will still show you options for the sunroof (if supported). You can just ignore what your car doesn't have.

Yeah, it's unfortunately so slow and such a pain to recode everything but you're definitely right

Will the backups restore anything that was coded in expert mode also? I did the anti-dazzle coding just this past weekend.

Yes, you can check the settings after the restore is complete to confirm.

Thanks for sharing! I am now a bit less concerned about coding the car even if I am just doing small changes.

Protools connects but nothing can be done with it. Anyone have any luck with this diagnostics/coding software? I get “Coding not available for this control unit for everything if it even recognizes the module.

When you guys are coding, is the car running, or just in standby mode (ready to start). This car doesn’t have the typical “ignition on” state that I’m used to coding in. Or maybe it jumps right to that state when the car is opened.

Ignition on is 3 pushes of the start button. Not recommended to code with engine on.

Not going well. I don’t think Protools is up to speed with the G87. “Coding is not available for this control unit” is a popular response. Can’t code shit.

Might have to make the switch. New equipment needed. Is it necessary to pay for Bimmercode to try it out to see how it works?
