If you look at the link posted above, you'll see every supported adapter for every OS. Just click on the tabs for which OS you want to view, iOS, Android, Desktop.

That said, this is the recommended USB-C Ethernet adapter for iOS devices.

I just bought the same one. Fingers crossed we don’t brick the ECU. You go first, haha.

I just got to figure out where to plug it in first! Fiancé going out of town this weekend so I’ll probably play around with it then… that being said it arrives tomorrow and restraint isn’t my strong suit.

Hold on a second, do you mean to tell me you've never used the OBDII port to code anything? The adapter you got is just USB-C to Ethernet, but you still need an ENET cable to connect to the ODBII port.

Yep, 100% new to it. I ordered the adapter as well as https://a.co/d/j1LQp80 which is what it showed listed for g series.

OK, you're good then. I personally use a Bluetooth adapter for convenience since there are no cables and it's small enough to keep in the glovebox.

Did you find the port yet? You can’t see it from a normal position because it’s tucked up there and facing down. Just in front of the door a few inches back.

That reminds me, here are some general tips since you're new to this.
  • If you have a battery tender use it. This is just a failsafe, it's highly unlikely you'll have any issues but it's cheap insurance. If you don't have a tender and if your car has been sitting for a while, go for a ~20m drive before you start coding. That will make sure your battery is topped off and healthy.

  • When you get into the car to code roll down the window, fasten your seatbelt, do not start the eigne. Turn on the cars power but turn off all accessories, lights, HVAC, etc. Basically anything that draws power should be off. Having the seatbelt fastened ensures the car will not go to sleep during coding. Having the window down is just in case of an emergency you need to get out of the car while it's still coding. It also can get stuffy in there.

  • Keep a list handy as you're making changes so that you know what you did. Yes, the app backs up each time you apply a change, but the backup doesn't tell you what was changed, it just stores the date. I mentioned this before, but if you go in for service and they have to apply a software update it's highly likely all the changes you made will get reset to factory defaults. That's when you'll be glad you have a list to quickly go back in and recode.

  • Don't freak out when you see the iDrive screen go blank or when you get warning lights on the dash. That normal when coding. When done the app will automatically clear them.

  • Lastly have fun. Customizing the car to your liking is awesome. You'll never turn back and will look for other things to code.

I haven’t looked. I had my STI modded but I didn’t do any of the coding. I will go look this evening to find it for tomorrow.

To add some color to what Tag said:

All coding does is select from options that BMW themselves designed. You aren't subverting BMW's will or doing something they don't plan for.

You are just selecting options that BMW provides, but hides from casual users. There's no chance of setting your car on fire or bricking it forever, assuming you follow the directions.

Almost always, the really dangerous stuff requires you to hook in new chips, or yank a chip out and send it somewhere to be modded. Or perhaps do a series of weird button presses to enter a diagnostic mode.

What I'm saying is that you won't stumble onto a landmine by accident. There will be warning signs if you are doing dangerous stuff, OBDC is not that.

You give me too much credit. I can always discover ways to brick it.

For anyone using Protools, it sounds like they are going to push the new software updates though in the next couple days. We’ll see how that goes…

I didn’t really mind it at first but turning it off immediately changed my mind. Be aware you might not be able to hear anything at all with the stock exhaust lol
