18x10.5 Track Wheels
Looking for a set of wheels for the track and the sprint class I'm looking to run limits wheel size to within 1" of standard width, and tyre size to <295.
So widest I can run is 18x10.5 295/35 if I want to run a square setup. I've heard 18's only just clear the front brakes, and with the lack of clearance can cause bad scratches on the callipers and inner wheel barrel. Looking for feedback for anyone running 18's, as this is a dual street/track duty car for me so will go to a 19x10.5 square setup if the 18s are going to cause damage, and forgo the extra sidewall on the 295/35/18 and go to a 295/30/19 |

I am running OEM 824M 18" square and can confirm that the clearance in front is very tight, but doable. I have a few thousand miles on the setup and just have 1 deep scratch in one wheel, see below pic. Otherwise, no issues. One word of caution... if you do run 18" up front, ** make sure your tire installer does not put the wheel weights on the center of the barrel **, it will hit your caliper!
Too bad you can't run BimmerWorld's TA55 19"x11" square as the front's are 0.5" too wide for your sprint class. That’s what I purchased to run this track season with 295/30 Continental ECFs. Not sure how helpful the extra inch of wheel diameter is for brake cooling as well. |
