i'm building an M240 to order in a couple weeks. If I ever take it to a track it'll be incredibly rare. Should I spend the money on the cooling package in order to get the performance tire package of just stick with the all season and use them money somewhere else?

You can get staggered performance tires without the cooling & tire package. They just aren’t the wider front Michelin PS4 and you don’t get the larger breaks & extra cooling.

You’ll also need to buy a skid plate to protect the poorly placed cooler IF you get the cooking & tire package.

The M tech pack is only £315 once you’ve bought tyre/ wheel pack so if you buy that it’s a no brainier to add.

I'd say it's good if you're gonna be tracking.
Upgrades are larger brake rotor, additional radiator + stronger radiator fan, wider wheels (F/R wheels are both wider, tires are only wider at front vs standard but perf tires)

I would go for it, even if I don't track the car, for the larger brakes and wheels/tires. they look awesome and it's a good price considering the tires will run you about 1.5k alone.

I went without all the extras. No ZTK. No technology package / heads up display. No leather.

As my daily driver, I have no intention of taking the car to an autocross track. I may visit a quarter mile track every now and again. So getting bigger brakes and getting the additional cooling package would just be overkill for me personally.

Also didn't want the upgraded wheels, as I don't care for the looks of any that's available. I actually like the solid black base wheels better. Additionally, I have already ordered a custom set a fully forged lightweight aluminum wheels.

I absolutely regret not getting the upgraded stereo package. The base stereo is awful.

I also somewhat regret not getting the upgraded headlights.

The M brakes on my 230i are awesome, I’ve never had a car that felt so over-braked (in a good way).

I was debating this myself prior to ordering the car, but I opted to not option it. I don't plan to track the car and if I were to track it, it'd be rare. The sports brakes will be fine. If you were planning on going to the track every couple of months, then it would be a good option to consider.

That's pretty much the way I'm leaning. Wouldn't really be tracking it and I can spend the money elsewhere. This car is more than enough fun on a back road/commute.

I once said I will only track my car rarely or maybe once. That was 20 years ago I'm still tracking. Once you do it once your hooked and so is your wallet, an addictive money pit. However I don't regret it one bit.Buy the package for no other reason that the car will have better brakes. There are some members here complain about the brakes w/o the ZTK package.

i haven't seen anyone mention the top speed limiter and sprint mode which would be included - at least here you go from 130mph to 155mph

Even if you don't get the ZTK package I'd avoid run-flats period.

Going with a summer gets you the higher top speed as mentioned before.

Mine came with P zeros (summer) in 225 front / 255 rear. They're decent tires but the car is definitely biased towards understeer mid corner. I'd spec the ZTK package if I could. 225 all season tires don't seem like nearly enough tire for the M240i. I guess it's fine if you drive like a grandma but otherwise seems like a shame to spec such tires on this car.

What is the M Tech package?

In the U.S., there is the Cooling & High Performance Tire Package, which is $2400USD. It includes the 893M Wheels with the 245/255 PS4 tires, and the larger brakes/rotors & extra cooling.

I agree. My M340i had the 225 width all seasons all around and it didn't feel like enough tire. I looked for ZTK equipped M240i's when I picked mine up and the staggered size definitely feels more appropriate, and if people don't care about carving up backroads at all, they look better too. Also cheaper than buying a set of wheels and tires if you decide you want to go bigger down the road (assuming you like the look of the stock wheel offerings).

I'd like to piggy back off this thread, but have a question about the staggered tires for the 230 and if they are worth it on that car. I'm not a fan of any of the 2025 wheels, so was thinking of just getting the 780's/848M's and then buying stock size 792M's separately unless the staggered is better on the 230.
