Back in October, after the official reveal and when the start of production was confirmed to be 12/2022, the expectation was that these allocations were coming last year, with actual deliveries starting in the Spring/April. That schedule is in line with practically every other launch, including both the G42 and G80/82 launches. First non-HEA US allocations in the Spring represents a huge delay.

The launch in April is marketing, not vehicle launch. . There is no delay if BMW never intended to launch the vehicle in April to begin with.

IF, and I say IF with a jumbo container of salt, anything were to come to fruition, it wouldn't be till later in the business day. With that being said, I dont expect anything today or even for the remainder of the month.

To me, BMW subtly moving the goalposts and changing this into a “marketing” launch 3 months after the reveal doesn’t change the fact that I and many other US customers at the top of their dealer lists expected to take delivery this April/May and not several months later. For recent releases, customer-specced cars were literally delivered to dealers days ahead of “launch” and held until the day of launch for delivery (versus the G87, where these cars apparently won’t be delivered for months afterwards). I have never heard of a distinction between “marketing” and another kind of launch, certainly not for any G products. In fact, certain new M products were delivered to customers before the press (G8x xDrive, CSL). If there are no non-demo cars on Day One, it’s a delay.

Couple that with my SA used the word "delayed" in his correspondence to me regarding an internal memo. I don't know if that's his word, or if it's from the memo, but in his mind it's a delay. I may try asking him for the memo, but I also don't want to cross professional boundaries by asking him for something that he probably isn't allowed to provide.

I think we've heard pretty definitively that there is no internal memo and that it's just a rumor circulating. T_U_D

I'm concerned with this rationale based on a marketing launch already happening in October. Everyone saw the reveals, the videos, and the car shows. Isn't that a "marketing launch"?

This is ridiculous…just give us the date and rationale for delay BMWNA and no “covid chip delay excuse either”.

I’ve swapped back and forth between AW, TR and BG. My Eidleweiss 20” around are already power coated gloss gold ready for installation 🤣🤣🤣

Agreed this is ridiculous. My local dealer has an allocation for a ct4v bw 6mt and every week I'm getting closer to putting a deposit down on it

No allocations yet...but they could trickle in at any point if today is indeed the day.

They're awesome but I just have something against Government Motors. I reconsidered a few times but I've now ruled it out.

Funny how one person mention January 23 as the possible "allocation release day" (and based on what?) and it seems as many have run with it. Hmmm...now could this be how rumors are started?

My dealer, who is not a small dealer, says allocations in general usually come out in the first two weeks of the month.

Nothing has been changed pertaining to the launch. This was part of the plan as it has always been April 2023, BUT what kind of launch was unspecified. We now have that intel.

I am number one at our center and I have been since early Summer 2021. My build has been in the order bank since it opened for the G87, Oct 15th. Irregardless, this changes nothing. BMW will do what they need to do. All the impatience and complaining will not change a thing. It is what it is… if we do not like it we can always go and purchase something else. I grant you BMW will still sell the car to someone else whom is more than willing to wait.

Unfortunately, no. In the grand scheme “marketing” is not technical the above, not internally. BTW, BMW’s marketing is handled by a third party. It seems like I read something last fall where BMW had terminated their current marketing and were seeking to sign another company.

It's usually the last week of the month...though the last year has been all over the place.

If I am recalling correctly, it was someone’s Christmas premonition. I am being serious.

I presume nothing changes for us ordering the Carbon Package?

Not that I ever gave any weight to the Jan. 23rd date anyways. Just wait it out, folks. It will be worth it and you’ll be glad you did!

I've been #1 at my dealer since my 2nd new M2 Comp purchase in December 2020 and have actually participated in two subsequent product releases as a launch period buyer. I'm familiar with the cadence and schedule. No US customer allocations for cars delivering during the April launch, 4 months after SOP and 6 months after the actual "marketing" launch in October '22 = delay.

I don't have an issue with it. If there's a delay, I'm fine with it, though I'm disappointed that the car might not be available for a meaningful portion of the summer driving season. However, saying there's no delay for US customer cars when other smaller regions have had real live allocations for weeks and are apparently getting their cars right on time for the April "marketing" launch doesn't make sense.

Again, I am going back to BMW never said launch and vehicle availability was April 2023 for the U.S. if the first vehicles are delivered in April, anywhere in the world they have made their commitment.

We have assumed that we arr April launch and we are wrong. So are any dealers stating such - they don’t know any more than anyone else.

We can wait or buy something else. So long as my urgency doesn’t change I’ll wait.
