Alternative to Nankang CR-S for Track
I bought a set of the 20/21 BMW 1000M wheels with the Advan Sport 285/295s for street driving my 2023 G87, and I was hoping to put the new V2 Nankang CR-S on my OE 19/20 wheels for track use. Unfortunately, the Nankangs in OE sizes (275/35ZR19 285/30ZR20) are back-ordered.
Other in-stock stickier tires in the 19/20 OE sizes include: * Pirelli P Zero Corsa (treadwear 80) * Michelin Cup 2 R (treadwear 140) * Michelin Cup 2 (treadwear 180) * Yokohama Advan Neova AD09 (treadwear 200) Does anyone have any experience with these in the OE sizes (275/35ZR19 285/30ZR20) to replace the PS4S tires currently on my OE 19/20 wheels for better track tires? Or another alternative? Thanks!

Unfortunately, all Nankang Tires V2 are back-ordered. They are stuck at the port with paperwork/customs issues.
Have you considered getting some aftermarket forged wheels for the track? Lighter, stronger, and you can do a square setup with 295s or 305s.

I have considered some Apex forged wheels, maybe going to 19 square withe some 305s, but I already have the 1000Ms on the G87, as well as extra track sets of wheels/tires for both my Camaro ZL1 1LE and C8 in the garage. Just too much stuff already for another set. Given the G87 will be more of an occasional track car, I thought a simple improvement over the PS4S tires might improve performance and fun? Maybe the P Zero Corsa or Cup2 R options? TIA

I haven't run those so my opinion is probably worthless but I would be interested in trying the Cup 2R.
I talked with Phil at Phil's Tire Service and he said that the Nankangs were supposed to be released through customs in the next week or two. Of course he has been told that before...

Interested in this as well. Was originally looking at CR-S but guess it won't be available anytime soon.
Found Yokohama ADVAN A052 has 275/35/19 front and 295/30/20 rear. So slightly wider rear than OE. Probably going to give it a try if CR-S is still not available in the coming months. |

Sounds like a good option. I suspect that 10+mm in the rear width would not be a problem. Could probably look for 285s up front also. I wonder if anyone has run slightly wider tires on OE wheels on track?

Not a fan of the Cups 2's - burned through them in 1.5 track days. Great on day 1, disappointing on day 2. I think the 2 R's will be even worse. You may want to consider the Hankook RS4's. They might be slightly slower, but they last much longer

I wish the Goodyear F1 Supercsr 3Rs came in our OE sizes. Yes, they’re a 100 TW rated tire, but they stick like glue and last pretty well. I run them on my 2023 Camaro ZL1 1LE, and they are fantastic. I still don’t know what to get.

I run 275 square on 19s. My current tires are the AD09. Longevity has been better than the RE71RS (as expected), but the grip levels aren't that much lower. The car overwhelms this setup on track easily; I understand why many enthusiasts have gone for 305s.
I've run the A052 on the GR Supra before. Insanely grippy, for about 2 laps then its grease and you're burning cash like crazy as the rubber melts away quickly. I also don't like its vague/mushy feel once loaded up in a corner. Really lovely on-road manners though. I'd like to try the CRS V2 next but I feel like ongoing supply issues won't make that happen. |

UPDATE: Got Cup2 Rs
I got tired of messing around trying to get a close fitment in a sticky tire, so I spent the $$ and got a set of Michelin PS Cup2 Rs in OE tire sizes (275/285s for the 19/20 wheels). They're getting installed now and will run them at Road Atlanta or Barber MP in the next couple of weeks. I'll report back on how they performed. Thanks for all the input!

Thought it'd be fair to provide an update on my AD09 experience.
They seem to be opening up at the tread splice areas. I've done some work to rotate the tires in the correct position to help close the gaps and it's mostly good. Obviously if it's a bit too far gone (like the one pictured), we're going to pretty much be done with the tire/running it with greater risk. We've seen this tire tread splice separation a lot more with the RT660, was bummed to see this on the AD09. Where this issue appears first is in the rear tires. |

After some research am going with Continental ECF (ExtremeContactForce).
TrackDayTire has 4 for price of 3 so can’t go wrong. Ran Hoosier R7 for years (on the race car) and they worked with Continental to create this Endurance spec 200TW tire. 295/30/19 |

What wheel/tire setup are people running to have 295 or 395 squared? I'm looking to run a Cup 2 or equivalent. Nothing too aggressive, but sticky enough to have fun on track and also easily street.
