Back in for CarPlay Service
Got my G42 2024 BMW M240i, and CarPlay has been a nightmare. First service at 1,100 miles, tried a new iPhone 15 Pro, but still had intermittent issues like music pausing/skipping. Now, 2 months later/3,500 mi, after short drives (e.g., gym), CarPlay shows 'unknown track' and won't load. Steering wheel controls also don't work. To top it off, my ambient lights flashed for a full 40-min drive despite resetting the car. Frustrating experience for a brand new car!
Anyone else had these issues? This car seems to be a lemon with the tech, definitely loving everything else but wow I am blown away of how downhill BMW tech has gone. The deal stated 'we cannot reproduce it and won't be able to do anything' for a brand new car that's already been in for service now twice. I haven't even had my first oil change!! Has anyone else delt with this shit? TLDR; ambient lights and CarPlay have been acting up on my 2024 M240i under 5k mi and the dealer doesn't know what to do. Hate to break it to you, but I'm pretty sure the CarPlay issues are pretty common in the G42. I have a 2023 M240i and I've seen the no track issue (although rare) and I haven't found a fix other than restarting ID8 or turning the car off and on. Audio skipping has probably been my bigger issue, I don't think it's a carplay issue since it happens using the native Spotify app as well. After the latest update I actually haven't gotten much audio skipping but my god was it rough when I first got the car.
The tech on top of the creaking, and rattling in the back... it's enough to drive someone mad. However, despite all that I do still love this car, but I am honestly disappointed. |
