Anyone Running The Front Mounted RKTunes Cold Air Intake ?

I like the idea of not sucking in hot engine bay air, especially during the summer months.

I don't like the idea of having to cut off a plastic piece for the install.

And if I lived somewhere that got a lot of rain, I probably wouldn't consider.

And I would ask if this intake has been dynoed, but I know the response will be the usual "sound mod only, maybe 2 to 5 hp gain".

Additionally, has anyone ran underhood temperature tests with different intake set-ups?

Thank you , i will do a bit of searching.

Like I said , the front mounted intake would likely provide the most benefit during the summer. But other than that , the gains might be negligible. Especially considering you are adding what , another foot or more of intake tubing ?

Yeah would have to ask him like I said I haven't seen him post recently he had a build thread he kept up for a while. As far as gains intakes are probably all pretty close, would suspect being up front and away from the turbo maybe it heat soaks less. Living in the south the summers are already killer.

We sold a couple; it's a good kit.

I have not seen any data showing better performance from this intake vs a regular high-flow intake

As far as water damage, you won't encounter any issues. I ran a front mount intake on my car for years with zero issues. We also had zero issues reported from any of our customers.

Yeah , water and rain would be the least of my concerns.

Mainly would love to see underhood and air temperature readings going into the intake.

Probably still looking at the MST for overall sound and price quality

The MST intake added a few notches of daily driving enjoyment for me, I wish I would have bought the intake as my first mod. Just go for it, you won’t regret it..get the turbo inlet version if you can.

That was in fact my car,I sold it 6 months ago and haven’t been active in till lately. Just picked up a 24

I swapped from a eventuri to the RK front mount. Fitment was pretty good, but I didn’t like that they re used a few stock intake pieces, also the filter was too far over imo(in-between both grills)They should have shortened the intake tube so the filter sits directly in front of one grill.

I don’t have dyno numbers. But I picked up 2mph on my trap speed with the Rk tunes intake and 5” catless downpipe. Compared to the eventuri and the AA catted downpipe. I would guess the DP made up the majority of the difference.

As far as water is concerned. The filter would have to be submerged and soaked to damage the engine. Rain ain’t gonna do it,especially when the active grills are closed majority of the time lol
