My dealership didn't offer me the HEA, but I assumed because it was zf8 and my spec was 6mt. So maybe there was something on the spec that was too far from your build that they felt it wasn't a match.

That's not HEA or first available unfortunately. It's first allocation.

I'm no legal scholar but I would suggest just playing the waiting game and leave it be.

That could be it Allocation Vs HEA. Or possibly it was an inside sale or as it may come as no surprise, they sold it to someone offering up more money (ADM).

Just FYI, at my first dealer where I was "first in line" for an allocation, I also wasn't offered the HEA but they did follow through on the allocation. I didn't expect to be offered the HEA because at the time, it didn't match my spec for allocation at all.

Understandable, I knew nothing about the HEA car. I had sent 3-4 emails and was just told repeatedly it was waiting for transport. It was very vague. Finally when I asked if it was accounted for/driveable (which is when I asked the transmission) when arriving and was told it was already sold by the manager.

Regardless, just needed to get some advice. I am happy with my ability to spec a vehicle. My decisions now are to add the carbon pack and decipher this ZF8 vs 6MT debate

We offered our HEA to everyone on the wait list regardless of what their specs were. Not one of our clients jumped on it. The car will not be a local resident.

By the strictest definition the HEA car is not an allocation. If they had a buyer willing to pay an ADM then I could see them offering the HEA, while keeping you on the list for the first allocation as agreed upon.

It could have also been a mistake. I could see a dealership accidentally offering the same car to two people. They could just be unorganized.

I put down a deposit in November to get on the waitlist and was told there were 15 people ahead of me on the list and as of yet, I don't have a production number and no indication of when I'll be getting one. Starting to feel a bit concerned that I might be getting the runaround. This is my first time ordering a BMW after spending the last decade with Audi, so I'm very unfamiliar with the process, but not knowing anything about timing is starting to drive me nuts.

There has only been two drops, to date. There is no way possible they would have received anywhere near 15 allocations at this point. You can try and keep abreast with the dealer but even at two allocations a drop (beginning with the end of February as the first month), and skipping August for the MY change, you can do the math...

I was #12 on Nov 22 when I put down my deposit. My dealer just told me today that I am #2 and will be on the next allocation. Either a lot of people in front dropped out or my dealer is getting a lot of allocations.

There is no way any dealer has gotten anywhere near 10 allocations. Most is probably 2-3 so far. So a lot must have dropped out
