Yep thats the one Luckily 1/4mile times != faster in a straight line. I'd buy a Tesla if I wanted an AWD, Automatic 1/4 mile car.

the M2 uses a different turbo setup than the G80/82?
when Mat Watson did the sport plus rolling race the M340i shot off while the G82 M4 was spooling and that was at high rpm (not lugging). in this race the M2 had no lag whatsoever. |

I certainly would have bought an S58 powered Z4 if it was on offer vs the B58 one I did buy. But honestly I'm kind of glad I was relegated to just the 400+ hp of the B58 in a small 2WD car.
Agreeing with some of those above, anything more than 400 hp in a small car needs 4WD to take full advantage of it. I've not driven an M240 (although it was on my list before buying my Z), but if drives anything like my Z, I'm sure it's plenty aggressive enough for the mean streets of Atlanta. I've had a couple of 'real' M's before and I'll probably have one or more again, but for the driving I do now, a B58 is plenty of power to have a ton of fun. I'll leave the BIG SPEEDING TICKETS to the rest of you guys...

The actual limit of usable HP is going to vary by situation, and it's an endlessly complex topic. But on a power-centric track, it's easily in excess of 800 HP given typical production car RPM ranges. Even on the street, if you are roll racing to 100, you are in third gear, and 400 HP isn't going to be breaking traction. (In Mexico, of course.) |

As far as thresholds and boost maps, I don't actually know. I've heard more than one person say the G87 feels more linear than the G82. So maybe the G87 is a tad quicker to come on, but the G82 has more power at the high end. |

You are welcome to try 100 in Atlanta, just don't do it in my neighborhood as i don't live on or even near a race track.

I think if Matt was driving the M2, it would've won. It was sub 12 secs consistently in the last drag race with the rs3 , cla, and Porsche.

I have a manual M3 and find the transmission fine, the TR6060 is better but the G80’s is still good.
