The Perfect Beef Jerky
I'm in search of the perfect beef jerky... not just the perfect hot sauce
Anyone here make their own? Is it tastier to make at home or is there a supplier online that you order from? Duke's Beef Sticks are good, Kirkland brand from Costco (refrigerate after opening) is ok. The Jerky Depot in NC has some ok stuff although often too dry. Where do you get yours? |

Oberto’s thin black pepper, but I need to go to the store to pick out the best ones. Sucks there’s no Winco’s in Raleigh. When I visit family in AZ, I’ll bring back 20 bags.

I guess it depends what flavor you like. I haven't had it years but one of my favorites was this one.
https://houseofjerky.com/shop-for-je...er-beef-jerky/ I first had it at their store in St Augustine but after that started buying it online. Very peppery which is what I like but also good texture. I've also made my own although it's been a while. I would get some top round and even bought a cheap slicer to slice it really thin. It helps to freeze the meat a little to firm it up. I would then marinate in a combo of soy sauce and pineapple juice for a while and put it on the rack and sprinkle black pepper all over it. First I would do them in my smoker but it was a pita because it has to be at very low temp and my smoker would only go so low so I had to do it by hand putting and removing pieces of coal/wood. Eventually got a dehydrator and would do them there. Much easier. Also use to buy a lot of this one: https://jerkyusa.com/shop-jerky/ols/...LD-BF-JRK-5-OZ Also havent had it in a long time but the company is owned by family of a friend of mine. It's a lot more "natural" tasting with more chew to it, but I remember liking that one a lot also. Been out of the jerky game for a while though. |

It ain’t beef, but the best jerky I’ve had was home brew venison.
Check out these guys. I really enjoyed their stuff when I still lived in Dahlonega. https://outlawjerky.com/ |

I am not sure that I want "house of Jerky" or "jerkyusa" in my browser history.

Buc-ee's is my favorite. I'd love to be able find similar options to order online. I don't enjoy the extremely tough, thin style jerky.

I have an Amazon subscription for Tillamook Zero Sugar Original. I don't like how most jerkies have sugar added; too sweet and too tender for my taste. I like a basic og jerky and the Tillamook is the closest I've found so far. It's also cheap for jerky.

https://texassnax.com/collections/jerky Jerky seems to be a popular snack among truck drivers. I've been hitting up truck stops for bags on our last few road trips down south, and the larger bags will last the entire trip. I tried the steakhouse and teriyaki jerkeys from Buc-ee's a few years ago, and wasn't impressed with either.....

I think I spent around $30 for a pound - it was good but wanted it to be a bit spicier.
Definitely interested in making my own - if anyone has any suggestions |

Jerkyholics is a good site for recipes. I tried this one and I did like it. https://www.jerkyholic.com/dragon-fire-beef-jerky/ The only thing though, they recommend patting dry the beef before it goes in, but I have found I get a little more flavour when I don't and just let the marinade evaporate into the meat. Personal choice though, and will take longer to dry of course. But that recipe was fairly decent with three habeneros....make sure you blend them nicely. |

Big jerky fan. There have been many I've liked throughout the years. My daughters and son-in-law recently got me a subscription to JerkyGent.
I'm enjoying it so far to get different jerky from all over the place. https://jerkygent.com/products/jerky...lan=1461289159 A list of all their jerky here: https://jerkygent.com/collections/all

On the subject, I can't say that I was wowed by anything at Buc-ee's except the bathrooms. Their signature brisket sandwich that everyone raves about was only meh, it wasn't dog-friendly outside, and the entire parking lot layout was set up to both create traffic jams and discourage almost-Mighty Freightliners and anything else but passenger cars from stopping there. We would never stop at one again.....

I received it as a gift subscription for my birthday. I really enjoy it, but I didn't pay for it either. The value I see out of this from my perspective is I know which ones I want to order again myself and which ones I'm good with just my monthly 2 oz. sample.

Ordered this 👍 Noticing that if I need a snack, jerky and trail mix is highly satiating, healthy and protein packed. |

I was in Cabelas a few days ago and as I was checking out I grabbed a bag of their (Bass Pro) steak jerky. Good value for the money. Still kind of moist and chewy with decent flavour. Just my 2 cents.
