G2x M Sport Package Seats as Standard
Frustrating that the G87 is getting the base M Sport Pack seats out of the regular G2x 2/3 Series as standard equipment. Well, at least in Germany. G2x Sensatec/Alcantara upholstery.
What's more frustrating that a 318i or an X3 20i can have the 711 M Sport seats which are basically identical to the base G8x M3/4 seats. I just double-checked to make sure I'm seeing it correctly. Zero logic in this choice apart from forcing a lot of people to upsell.

I’ve suspected it wouldn’t get the M Sport seats for NA. For instance, the M240i doesn’t get them, but in the UK they do. Have a feeling that the M Sport seats won’t be offered for the G87 in NA unless it’s the competition model, like they did with the F87. |

Yes, I, too, think the G8x M Sport seats will be offered on the Competition model. If they were available right from the start, they'd have been in at least one of the prototypes at the recent press event.

This has not been determined as of yet. The OP is purely speculating as no one truly knows, unless you are internal at BMW NA and even then things still may not be nailed down due to supply constraints.

Not a speculation. It may be market-dependent, considering US F87 Comps had M4 seats as standard, meanwhile Europe did not, but BMW choosing G2x seats over G8x is not a question of supply chain issues. If they can send over M Sport seats to Rosslynn or Spartanburg, they could send them down to Mexico, too. E8x 1er M and F87 M2 also had regular M package seats. So history is repeating itself once again.

But it's usually pick&choose, not that they'd sell, e.g., a different seat only in one country |

Same applies to every country. BMW’s Product Planning team determines the standard features as well as options. There is one in every market. It is not exclusive to the U.S.

UK didn't get M4 seats until M2 Competition in July 2018. As my M2 LCI 2018 was one of them too Certainly hope history isn't repeating itself. |
