iDrive gremlins
Had my first electrical gremlins yesterday. I was driving along listening to an audiobook on CarPlay, when the audio started pausing and unpausing every few seconds.
Then the entire screen went black, including the drivers display. That came back within a couple seconds but the main display stayed off. Then after a few minutes, it started to flash on, play a second of audio, then go blank again. This went on for a good 10 mins until it magically fixed itself and everything was back to normal. Anyone have something like this happen to them? |

I have not had the issue you describe, but twice now I've gotten into the car, and carplay won't connect. It says that the bluetooth version of carplay is not compatible.
Once I drive a bit, park & come back to the car it seems to correct itself. I've googled it and found some folks on other forums mention resetting the head unit when this happens. Hoping driving the car more now that the weather's nice helps the issue. |

reboot the idrive . it will fix the Bluetooth issue. Hold the power nob down for 15-20 seconds until the screen goes black and system reboots

yeah, the black screen I get still has the "Home" button in the corner, but whenever I go to CarPlay, it is full black again.
I just reboot everything and then all is well for a few days. The dealer I go to is hoping BMW pushes out an update. |
