License plate wait time?

I was suprised to recieved my license plates in less then 2 weeks. the other cars in my family usually took like 1.5months - 3month for the plates to come. one of my friend also had to pick up their plates from the DMV and others also had to wait like 8weeks for it to come.
my dealer sent the plates to me and Not DMV, which is who i usually recieve them from.
I actually wanted to keep the dealer plates on longer, cause it still felt like a new car.
How long did you wait for your plates to come?

I bought my car in NJ, but it's registered in NY. For such purchases, they only give you a 21 day out of state permit. I think my plates came in just over 2 weeks after delivery of my car. I'm not sure if this is standard procedure, but they were sent to the dealer address.

My salesman installed my plates on my car as I picked it up.

He just went into finance asked for a plate to be assigned to my car, 5 minutes later he walked out and installed it with the on board tool box.

How many people actually gets their plate but doesn't install it for a while? At my old apt, there were a new A4, a new C230, and a new E500 that didn't install their plates until 2 months after I got mine. And I know they all got their cars a few weeks before I did.

You never seen the line at our local DMVs... Weeks is fast, months is the norm.

Most dealers here have a stack of new plates they give out, but I just transferred my old ones from the trade-in. So I can't actually choose in the poll since there was no wait.

I would also be "no wait". The plates from my old car were transferred to my BMW at the dealership when I picked it up.

So in Missouri I got my plates at the DMV when I paid my sales tax; no waiting. But - since I am moving to Los Angeles and apparently it could take months to get CA plates, that means I'm going to be driving around CA with my podunk MO plates, looking like a real goob.

At least you'll know who it is when you see me.

Are they going to make me pay huge taxes or fees to get the plates? I just shelled out thousands to the state of MO, that's enough for me.

I got mine with the car. I think that's pretty common in FL if you just get the standard tags

I still don't have mine and the car has been in CA since Oct 31. My dealer forgot to do all of the paperwork. I actually don't mind since I have my ED plate on, and people ask about that a lot.
