Of course it will be faster to 60.. Even BMW claims this is true. The official M5 numbers were conservative, so why do people believe the M3/4 official numbers, already better than the M5, also aren't conservative ? And comparison of an instrumented "best of all magazines" M5 0-60 run is hardly on par with us trying to time a (new engine) 0-60 time driven by a regular person using vbox (UAE guy) or trying to time off of a youtube video.

Just ridiculous. Just accept the fact that the M3/4 is probably just as fast to 60, and wait for the optimum times to come out from the magazine articles, or Gustav to post his drag race videos.
The magazines use Vbox's too and it doesn't take a race car driver to to activate LC and keep the gas pressed lol . I think his times are very representative of what we will see from mags that don't do a 1- foot rollout , his launch was very optimal . Adding a 1-foot rollout to his numbers would likely give a 4.0 sec 0-62 and 3.8 sec 0-60 ahead of BMW's claims. But we have seen stock M5's do 3.6-3.8 0-60 with a rollout so It would be appropriate to say its a drivers race to 60 . Looking at 0-200km/hr , 0-250km/hr , 100-200km/hr it is also safe to say the M5 will pull away handily from any rolling speed as it should given the 140 hp/100lb ft advantage . If you want a drag car the M3/4 is not for you .

I've seen you around. Love the exhaust on your M it sounds ridiculous.

I know because a friend of mine has a M5 and he always tells me about yours I guess you knocked on his door once because you saw his car and wanted to hear his Akra exhaust.

When I get my M4 we should do a few highway pulls would love to see by how much your beast pulls away. Should be fun.

The straight line speed is still in contention but its nice to see some affirmation that what we have been saying about track time is indeed correct... but we sort of knew this anyway.

"For those obsessed with numbers, BMW says this M4 coupe will lap the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife a full 15 seconds quicker than its predecessor (and five seconds quicker than the current F10 M5)"

And M5 CP is 5 second faster then M3/M4, and M6 is 5 second faster than M5 CP and M6 CP is faster than M6
"RPiM5" told me
So : M6 CP > M6> M5 CP> M3/M4> M5

This is a pretty good summary, most likely for ring times AND 0-60s. Another thread just posted 0-62mph/100kmph 3.8 for F80 M3. This would be a 0-60 around 3.6-3.7.

Car and Driver rates M5 at 3.7 standard and 3.6 for M5 CP. M3/4 going to be close/identical 0-60 to M5 CP and almost certainly faster than standard M5.

Keeping the trend above:-
M6 CP > M6 > M5 CP > M3/M4> M5
£101,000> £95,000 > £81,000 > £59,000 > £74,000

I have absolutely ZERO idea why this thread just popped up on my notifications, however, I might as well update it with a big ole I told you so and correct the straight line acceleration rankings:
M3/4 > M6 > M5 .. pretty much as I predicted. I think this is true regardless of the source you pull up, as long as its the same source with all 3 measurements.

They shouldn't but post that a M4 is faster than a M5/M6 in a straight line and you'll see owners make sure you get your facts straight.

Really? The fastest M5/ M6 that i've seen ran a high 10 @ 129 if I am not mistaken... that was M6 beast on race gas and meth... This car is exactly 5 months in and has ran an 11.1 w traps that near 128...

Interesting...

+1, the quarter mile I ran had a poor launch and was on MAP 2. I'm making significantly more power now on MAP 8. Don't be surprised to see sub 11 and 130mph trap speed.

Discuss.
I have m4 and m6. Different kind of cars. M4 much sportier, m6 touring car. I prefer to drive the m4, but trust me the m6 IS faster in a straight line. No doubt.

- The M3/M4 will always have better lap times than an M5, not so sure about an M6.

- You'll never get to enjoy the clarity of listening to Kelly Clarkson's voice without the Bang & Olufsen on the racetrack in the M3/M4.

- No Competition Package for M3/M4 in over a year from now.

- You'll always feel a little cheated when you go to close the door on the M3/M4 without Soft Close Doors.

- Your passengers in the back of the M3/M4 will always be bored out of their minds without their own temperature controls or Rear Seat Entertainment Screens.

- You'll constantly be hitting deer and bears at night on dark forest roads without Night Vision in the M3/M4.

- You'll hate yourself every time you get in the M3/M4 and see no Alcantara headliner in the cabin.

- The only lowering springs to come to market for the M3/M4 in the first 6 months will be the H&R's and are crap springs.

- The Nurburgring time for the 2012 stock M5 is 7:55. With Comp Pack on the M5 it's 7:45. The M6 without Comp Pack is faster than 7:45 and with Comp Pack is even faster. If a stock M3/M4 is faster than 7:25 around the Nurburgring, I'll be impressed, but I highly doubt that.

- The M3/M4 will be infinitely more fun and better balanced and more rigid on the race track.

- With CCB's the M3/M4 will have much better stopping distances than the M5/M6.

- The M3/M4 will never be anything close to as sexy as the M6 Gran Coupe.

- There will be no M4 Gran Coupe.

- Stock M5's/M6's can beat 2013 GTR's in a rolling race. M4's will still get beat by GTR's in all racing regimes.

- With a simple piggyback the M4 should be able to reach 500hp to the crank no problem. The M5/M6 with a simple piggyback reaches 700hp to the crank no problem.

- The cats will be harder to remove in the downpipes on the M3/M4 versus the simplicity of removing the cats on the M5/M6.

- The M2 will be lighter than M4 and will give M4 owners a run for their money on the track.

- The M2 will be cheaper than the M4 but with only 375hp from the factory.

- The next generation M5 is only 4-5 years away and should be under 4,000lbs with possibly an AWD option, while the M3/M4 will still be 3,500lbs and with RWD for the next 7-8 years.

- The M3/M4 has their side turn signals in the side view mirrors which is lame, while the M5/M6 still have their side turn signals integrated with the side grill which is awesome.

- The iDrive screen in the M5/M6 is bigger.

- The M3/M4 comes with an infinitely better 6 Speed Manual Transmission than the M5/M6.

That's all for now.

Not to pick on you in particular, but doesn't anybody posting here get that 0-60 times are essentially meaningless? The fact that one car gets a marginally better 0-60 time in no way predicts which car is actually ahead at 60 - either car's 60. The "faster" car may be behind at 60 (and catching up), dead even and beginning to pull away, or ahead and pulling away. There's no way to tell.

Quarter-mile/standing kilometer times are the only way to determine the quicker car. Time to speed in no way correlates to time to distance, and time to distance is the only thing that counts in a drag race.

Near as I can tell, the M5/M6 cars are slightly less traction-limited than the M4 off the line and in the lower gears, leading me to believe that the bigger, "slower" car might well be ahead at 60, regardless of times to that speed.
