Sounds like the right thing to do - please let us know what BMWNA states and your dealer's response.

To confirm - for 6MT we are looking for BMW to service at 1200 mi:
1) Engine oil
2) Diff fluid
3) Trans fluid
How about the oil pan screw???

I have my first service this Thursday... The SA said no Transmission oil... only engine and diff. I have 6MT.

He said it's what the key tells them when he plugs it in the reader. Oh well.

Show him page 5 in the Service and warranty Information booklet in your glove box.

I have mine scheduled next week. Not sure if they will do it but why not try?

He said it's not up to them but up to bmwna... I may call them tomorrow and see what they say.

They ended up changing engine oil, oil filter, screw and differential fluid. I called BMW of NA... they said no manual transmission fluid. Dealer said they had to go by what they say.

So I let it be. They didn't reset my 1200 service warning though... I don't feel like going back so i'll probably reset it myself.

Thanks for the update.
I am going next week. I plan on mentioning it again but, I think it is not an issue.
Are you planning on changing it some time soon, or just following BMW recommendations?

I'm fine with following Bmw recommendation. I don't track the car nor beat up on it that much. I'd rather follow what they recommend than have something happen and they'll blame me cause I changed oil or whatever.

The USA "service books" had a printing error.
The transmission fluids are not changed anywhere in the world for the F80//F82/F83 at the run in service

Dont
The running in Service has to be reset via the diagnostics computer at teh dealer or the car will not reset the pre-run in limitations .

Resetting it manually will also make the system skip a required service interval

See below aswell

Had my 1200 mile service today.
I made them check and double check with BMW. BMW does not recommend changing the 6MT fluid at 1200 miles. They consider it a lifetime fluid, I will most likely change it my self at some point. Not sure when or that it is really needed.
BMW Mt. Kisco in NY.

My CA told me that at the 1,200 mile service the car gets "retuned" to full 425 hp that it comes from the factor "detuned" 100 hp. Is this true?

No difference before/after 1200 mil service for me - except for new fluids.

However, if you are diligent about the break in rules - then expect +100 bhp as you rev past 5000 rpm for the first time!

As much as people talk about low end torque - the car really comes alive deep into the throttle above 5000 rpm.

I thought I'd update this thread with my experience. I have a 6MT and am in Western Canada for context.

I took my car in to the dealer yesterday for the 2,000km service. Didn't ask specifically about this. They changed the engine oil and the differential. They did NOT do the manual transmission oil.

I gave them a ring afterwards to find out what they had done. The service record I was given was a bit vague and the my normal service manager wasn't available when I picked up the car. He called me back a bit later and upon me inquiring about the manual transmission oil, they decided they'd forgotten to do it, and it should be done.

Car went back in today and it was included as part of the no change service.

Seems like the info from BMW Canada (when pressed at least) is to change the manual transmission oil still...

They probably just meant that L/C was turned on or something.....I am amazed at how ignorant some of these dealers are at the cars they sell.

BMW dealers initially were saying the same thing for the E9x M3, that the 6MT fluid was not going to be changed at the 1200 mile service even though the manual stated otherwise. Later it turned out they were wrong and the 6MT fluid was suppose to be changed while the DCT was considered lifetime.
