The R8 is a V10 600 hp n/a car with no back seat and less than forward tech in the cockpit. It serves what it intends to be, a high rpm, good handling sport car with an amazing exhaust note. It can be daily driven but I would not do so personally. Its a great car on the eyes but not so "look at me" like a Macca or a Lambo would be. Its not entirely pragmatic but I have now had 4 of them they are really great usable daily super cars that are enjoyable to grip and rip. If all you do is drive in traffic; this is not the car for you. But it sure is a good looking car IMHO. The Haldex AWD setup creates a rear bias like my X drive and the chassis/steering is not prone to that notorious understeer and tq pull that other Quattro cars deliver. The R8 should be a better track car but I dont use it for that and its every bit of an amazing car for the street. The G80 is as good a car IMHO for what I need and want in a driving experience on the street with better tech and creature comforts. With a proper tune you can beat an R8 on the street but it will never sound or look like one. If I could only have 1 car, then the G80 X is my car (vs the R8) but if I have more than one car and have a practical driver, the R8 is a great 2nd or 3rd car option.

And with the release of the new software, I'm under the impression that the internal piped in sound can be turned off in the infotainment settings.

Did you option yours with the 0-10 Stage M traction control? In 4WD sport in MDM you will get oversteer. M xDrive is a lot different from the xDrive that I had on my M340iX.

In RWD mode, i can't say i feel anything from the front ... I Haven't lifted the car and do a test, but i doubt any power goes to the front when RWD mode is engaged. Traction is actually worse than on my former F82 comp, but it had PS4S while i got Pzero on the G80...

Once we solve that rear brake problem, I'm sure it will be just as fast if not faster than my F80 M3 CS on the track.

The "M3" is dead is always funny, with every generation. I only really got into BMW's seriously right before the F80 came out (I'd driven plenty of them but hadn't bought one until then) and according everything I read on this board back then, the M3 died with the E90. Yet still there are M3's, and people that love the version they have and dislike the ones they don't.

V8?! BLASPHEMY! Turbo?! BLASPHEMY! The M3 is still here. It's the customer base that is moving on. Welcome the new customer base!

At least on the Nurburgring, Sport Auto got 7:30 vs 7:42. Not even close! My G82 is running the same lap times as my highly modded M2C (which would be significantly faster than a stock F8x CS)

What I meant to say is that I'm wondering if, out of the box, the G8X is faster than my slightly track modded F80 M3 CS.

xDrive for me all the way.
It already wants to whip that rear so bad during aggressive cornering in freezing weather, I couldn't imagine owning a rwd and dare do the same. Skills? I don't know if I have them since I've never owned a rwd in my life; mostly fwd and later awd. And don't want to find out that the only skill I have is to end up in YouTube as another "M3 Fail" clip
